Accord 18 pics released...TLX killer?

Stock for Stock, the 2.0t exceeds the V6 mildly in fuel economy. That's why Honda chose to go with it. Honda never intended it to be a tire shredding badass turbo car. They are waaaaaay too conservative to ever do something like that. And so stock for Stock, maybe the v6 is a wee bit faster, quicker, whatever.
But last I checked, this is a forum, and a huge part of any car forum is modifying. Instantly the V6 loses in that department.
Honda never intended the 2.0t to exceed the v6 in terms of performance. It very easily could. But honda didn't want it to. Honda intended on giving us an equivalent to v6, in terms of performance, and the 2.0t more or less does that. Its slightly better in one aspect. Slightly worse in another.
But coming into a forum, this is where the turbo should shine. Instead we have a bunch of people who bought a nice car and want to talk about how nice it is, as opposed to what AZ used to be, where people used to try squeezing every last ounce out of their car.
In pretty much every other car forum, everyone would be all over the turbo like fat kids on chocolate bars. No one in their right mind would take an NA platform. Why would they? For the sound? That's It?

Hypothetically speaking someone in a little car with 1 horse power for every 4.4lbs of weight & 13" wide 100 treadware rubber is quietly sitting at a light waiting for the green. Up pulls a Camaro SS revving his engine, lurching foward etc. The light turns green & the little car with no drama pulls a 8-10 car length lead by 45MPH then backs off the gas to remain at the posted speed limit.
In the meantime the SS is running WOT catches up then goes flying by 45MPH red car & continues to accelerate past a cop car a few blocks down the street where he always hides around rush hour.
The fast pass of the SS past the 45MPH car that just thumped it is known as a ricer flyby. Was brought to prominence by small import cars with fart can mufflers & similar types of Fast & Furious modifications not doing well against regular cars & having to show how fast they really are.

Have you noticed the TLX gets pretty much zero reference to mods and accessories on this forum? Even after 3 years on the market. Was VERY easy to mod a TL, tells you something about it. When you say squeeze, hard to do with it being made for mileage. The v6 transmission just kills any mod made to it. I4 is better, but it's blocked by the weak 2.4 engine.

What's fantasy is linking the TLX to performance.
Expect that anyone who posts here outside of someone looking for occasional help with something are enthusiasts but just not as performance oriented as the 2 & 3G populations were.
The linkage you are looking for is the advertising. The company advertises performance everytime, all the time & nothing else. Guys can have a car with a performance image on TV & it makes them happy to be driving the same car. On the BMW, Audi & MB side people buy non-performing 320's & similar then live in the image of the higher powered versions. No harm in that its real life in a lot of different things.
Look at sports or auto racing & some of the most rabid fans. How many of them ever played the game or drove anything on any kind of track or even dads car at the drag strip when they were kids?

Actually, I'm waiting for the 2.0T to come out. I will be test driving and potentially buying it as a replacement for my 2006 TL.
Anything else?

I just looked at the 2.0T/6MT configuration, and unless I'm missing something, that car is decidedly stripped; unavailable features compared to the higher trim levels:

I think that you can add HomeLink with auto dimming rearview mirror as an option. I believe that Parking sensors can also be added as an option. Aside from the upgraded sound system and leather option, much of the remainder of the list I can do without.
Honda wonders why some don't buy the manual although kinda a miracle it is still even offered.

You should tell Acura cause they sure as hell don't know so far. The TLX feels like a utilitarian vehicle, with maybe some occasional joy when flooring it. The same can be said for the Accord, both have meh materials.

The 2.0T are on sale but I think they meant it was available for the pricing online. We have yet to get them or even the books on the 2018 Accords. To me, if you put a product out like that, the information should already be available at the dealerships. Don't put a car out for sale and have no information available for customers to take home with them.

Any one with common sense would reserve judgement until after they have had some first hand experience with the subject matter before declaring their stance on it.
By the way, no, I don’t argue about cars at parties or otherwise. But if someone tells me I should have bought a Ferrari instead of an R8, I might very well ask if they’ve ever owned a Ferrari.
So, anyway, have you bought the new Accord yet?

As for the Accord, TLX debate. Both cars fill the same use category, family car & one is built off the others bones. One has a better bottom end & one has a better top end. One has more features & one is more expensive. One car has more internal room while one car is quitter. Neither is going to set the auto world on fire with their performance so why can't people have an opinion on what has been published so far?
I think most of us who have commented about the TLX have driven one & have not said WOW what a ride. Don't expect the Accord to be any better in a drive. But don't think the TLX will outclass it either.
Care are always tradeoffs & the two cars in question overlap enough that its worth the debate. Think outside of AWD the Accord outpoints the TLX on feature content. Question is does the TLX out preform the Accord enough to have someone say I will take the performance over features.
On paper it looks like the Accord is the bang for the buck car in what most people here profess is important when the are confronted with a car that easily outperforms the TLX like the Infiniti red, "its not about performance"
Or is it "its not about performance unless the TLX wins"?

The point is there are all these people raving about a car they haven’t seen in person, haven’t driven yet, and certainly don’t have any ownership experience with, and yet they’re convinced it’s amazing.

No one needs to buy a car to love or hate it, or be able to talk, or read, or write about it, either. Ah, freedom of speech. I think the TLX sucks donkey balls. And I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks about that either.

You act like the Accord hasn't been a major success for 9 previous generations. It's handling is well known. It's braking is well known. It's ergonomics are well known. Everything about it is well known. Except, you know, the new turbo motor. No one is expecting anything revolutionary for the car. A new generation means tweaks to what made them a top seller, not trying to figure everything out from scratch. Reviews thus far have been stellar for the new Accord. And yes, many people do trust those reviews, whether you like it or not. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the TLX. In fact, last I checked, most critics still say it's an overpriced car for what you get. Aka it sucks.

I agree with the previous commenters, if you haven't bought one, there's no way any of you jokers can know what the Accord is like.
This thread should be locked until everyone who wants to participate in the discussion can provide evidence that they have purchased both a TLX and a new Accord in order to compare and contrast.
Photographic evidence must be provided and need to show the current days newspaper, a package of bacon, and some butter (stick preferred but tub is acceptable; no margarine). Leased vehicles are not acceptable either.

Lol!
Not until they have purchased. But at least DRIVEN the 2.0T Accord and the V6 TLX. Some folks, not naming any names, only focus on what's on paper and have no actual experience driving the vehicles we're talking about. After driving the 4cyl TLX and the 1.5 Accord, I think the Accord takes it. I've driven the TLX V6 and I'm waiting to drive the 2.0T Accord. I think it'll take the cake again as well. The TLX still has that whole "dual screen" thing going that me, and many others, don't like.

How rude! Your grandmama would say. Freedom of speech all right, but I just don't think logically it would take you far to describe a whole brand of cars "suck donkey balls". The truth of matter is that TLX does fit the bill for many owners, whether for its pricing, performance, features or expected reliability/durability. Accord already and always has an appeal to a wider audience. I don't understand why some of you are selling it so hard. Are you taking commissions from some Honda dealerships? Just kidding or..
What’s more perplexing is the statement about the Accord being a major success. Honda has not been able to convince me (or anyone I know) to buy one in all these years. Heck, I’d rather buy an A4 before I’d buy an Accord.

Right, except Honda sells more accords EVERY SINGLE MONTH then they do the TLX every year. Don't believe me? Check the sales stats. Even in its final model year, the accord was selling 30,000 units PER MONTH. Acura sold, what, 36,000 TLXs in a Year? The market and the customers have decided. The price of the TLX isn't worth it.
As mentioned, the two cars are very similar. But one is significantly cheaper. And newer. And has more tech. And is bigger. And gets better fuel economy. And is lighter, And is...
You can can think and say what you'd like... but you don't have much of an argument in any case. Still, the TLX sucks. Will continue to suck. And by golly, won't stop sucking for a few more years. Care to prove us wrong? I'll be sitting here all week, waiting
Also, welcome to the internet. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Hopefully, when the 2G TLX comes out, it once again has the upper hand over the Accord. I mean, it should. This won't be much of an argument then. But compared to the 1G TLX, it most definitely is.

The "no one I know etc". No one here has an Accord either different buying demographic. What's more to the point there is only one TL around here anymore (4G). The TL's were very popular here in the past; not unusual to see 3 or 4 at the same time waiting for local traffic light during rush hour. The they are now invisible as the existing TL's have been sold off & replaced with other brands. That spells to be kind a clear lack of success.
