I had a close look at the new Accord the other day and 9G standing right next to it on the lot. 9G looks so much better to me. The new generation is so round and Malibu like it's disturbing. Lol.

I guess I must have been raised wrong; somewhere along the line I never learned the Automatic = Luxury axiom. Hell, I remember my stepfather doing a factory order for a 1970 Chrysler 300 2-door with a 440 and a 4-Speed manual.
Guy at work preordered an 18 2.0t...he's so excited.
Surprised the dealer let him do that since they don't even have a delivery date out yet unless he is having them put in a special order for the second shipment and taking his money to make sure he can't shop around?

We've had people do that on the Type R. Months before we even got a delivery date for the first one. It can be done. It's about the willingness of the person wanting to do it to secure the first one for themselves.
All you guys hating on the design, have you gone and seen one in person yet? I think in person the car looks great, the only thing that let me down a little was the design of the rear taillights, but overall I think it's handsome sedan. The fact that it throws down a 14.1 second 1/4mile with the 2.0T 10spd auto is completely wild to me.
yes I sat in it but not driven it the sport is a great value. but the touring 35-36 ah no not a good value slamming the doors and the quality of the materials and the feel of the leather to me feels cheap. I no longer have seconds thoughts if I should have waited for the new accord I'm satisfied with the new tlx

I'll take my Accord Exterior over the 10G exterior anyday....
IMHO, the 9.5G Accord Touring is the nicest looking Accord to date. My local dealer still has about five in inventory, and it’s tempting to get one for the wifeys daily use.
Went to the Honda dealer for an oil change this morning and had a chance to see the 2018 Accord in person for the first time. Oddly enough they don't have one in the showroom but they had a white touring sitting right out front. It was too early to to take it for a drive (the sales guys weren't in yet) but the car was unlocked so I was able to have a sit in it.
Interior looks clean - but you know it's a Honda. Lot's of hard surfaces with plain black plastic. Steering wheel was very nice and beefy.
Leather seats looks nice and had a good feel to them.
Car looks pretty bad from this angle (like an old Chevy Citation )IMO - but surprisingly you really don't notice the unfinished grill as much when it's right in front of you.
I was actually pretty surprised that the car looks much better in person from the profile. I thought it looked pretty good from this angle. Something about the photos that skew the proportions maybe?

All told I was pleasantly surprised that seeing it in person did change my opinion of the design a bit. Looks sporty and modern from the profile. I liked it in white. When you sit in it you realize right away that while the interior looks nice - it's no Audi or Lexus or Acura etc. Lots of hard plastic and flat black plastic surfaces. It's an incremental bump up to the materials in the Acura but the TLX has more soft touch plastic. Nothing wrong at all with that - but lots of hyperbole about how it rivals a European sedan on the inside and that's not the case. It may look more European on the interior but when you sit in it it feels like a Honda. A nice Honda. The sticker on this was just over 32K (1.5T Touring). Looking forward to driving one for fun sometime - at the right price (probably not 32k) they will sell a bunch of these.

They'll sell. We've sold three Tourings. At sticker plus dealer installed accessories($1944). You'll never find a discount on new models that come out with Honda. It'll be a good few months. Unless it sells really well, like the CR-V, then discounts won't be much(maybe like $500-1000). I did find a nice little feature the other night while driving one we had. The temp dials. When you turn them to raise the temp, the lighting around it turns red. When you turn the temps down, they turn blue. It's a pretty cool feature.
In addition. Sadly, at the show I was a rep at, they didn't have any 2.0Ts. Matter of fact, the Type R we were supposed to have there was damaged(truck driver backed into a tree and the roof of the Type R was damaged). So we had to use the Civic Hatchback Sport Touring. Was still pretty fun tho.
Seen this awesomeness at the show too. Some little kid kept trying to climb on the hood. I wanted to throat punch him. Another kid, probably 12, kept trying to open the door(along with 4 other adults). Looked like he was about to break the door handle. They're not going to have a limited production car with a six figure price tag open for any idiot to get into. Every single person that looked at it(with the exception of me and 4 others) had to put their fingers all over. Like...STOP TOUCHING! Lol.
Seen the TLX. Both versions. Look better in person. I wouldn't mind having one myself.
i'll take that Aspec over an Accord Sport all day, so again I don't feel the Accord is a TLX killer. I do like the design direction of the Accord.
I don't really think it's a TLX killer either. On par? Sure. The front on the 2018 TLX bothers me. The rest of the car is great. But the grille. It's bothersome. Looks like a truck/SUV front end. Not really sporty. To me at least. And they still have that dual screen thing going on. Honda got the idea. No one really liked it. Found it more confusing than useful. Aside from those two things, I don't really have any other complaints on the TLX other than the power. So power, front grille, and dual screens.

Though this would amuse the fans here. There is a $34K Accord thread on the BMW site. As here a lot of its not a BMW especially by 320-330 owners.
My response when they go on about "handling" etc.
"I tend to enjoy whatever I drive even my pickup. Think if I had $34K or so to spend I would be happy with a 2T 6/10speed Accord over a 320 & possible a 330. Would even throw the Stinger into my buy mix for a few more dollars.
I think the whole handles better thing is way over blown for cars that will spend 100% of their time on public roads.
On the avoidance testing at drivers school only 3 of us out of 16 were able to make any clean passes out of 6 tries. Granted we were going for low ET with penalties for hitting cones or stopping outside of the braking box so some of us pushed as hard as we could but the time spread was 23 seconds for best time & 34 seconds for 16th with most over 30 seconds. Maybe 4 people in the class were actually using the cars capabilities.
I like my creature comforts & would not give them up for a bottom end German car. Am more then happy to pay extra to get the comfort options I want but in a car with superior overall performance to go with it."

Yes. The 1st gen TLX looks better. It's more...sharp. When they changed the grille to what it is now, they messed up the front end. The rear still looks sexy,.
