TPMS? Exclusive TL model or?

Hi,
I found a set of used TPMS near my place but they were on a Dodge Journey

Are those TPMS universal or I need to buy genuine Acura TPMS?

Perhaps I should go with genuine Honda/Acura TPMS for the quality I think...

How about this model : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Factory-OEM-Acura-Tire-Pressure-Sensor-Monitor-TPMS-42753-TK4-A010-M1-/160966640626?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AAcura%7CModel%3ATL&hash=item257a5c03f2&vxp=mtr

TPMS sensors are not universal. They use different RF frequencies to do communication with the matching TPMS controllers.

Even Acura itself has several types of TPMS sensors, and they are not compatible across models.

Ok the model I need is p/n 42753-TK4-A01
On Ebay there's plenty of 42753-TK4-A010-M1 (as per my link on my first message)
Some are saying that it's for US model only! So TL and ZDX have the same TPMS but that's pretty much it.

And now I'm scared about the fact that those TPMS, are they going to fit or not on the wheels I bought? I bought Acura/Cadillac wheel, 17'', bolt pattern 5X120 so I know they fit on my car but, will the TPMS fit on them?
Damn it's not easy to be sure to have something that fit correctly.

What happen if I don't but TPMS? I mean, what happen more than a message in the my dash ?

If the sensors are for the 4G TL, then they will work on both the US and the Canadian TL's.

Mine is a Canadian TL, but I bought the US TMPS sensors from an US Acura dealership. The sensors work just as expected.

So my link in the first message will work...I mean, I'm sure they will....
The seller is telling me : Not sure that Canadian TL has TPMS ....

Oh, it's saying that it doesn't include washer and nuts....anybody knows the best place to buy that or the garage where I will go will, obviously, have everything near...?

^Try to find a package with ALL the parts you'll need. Otherwise you can buy the rebuild kit in addition to the sensor/transmiter:

Well, adding 4 kits like this to the 4 tpms, I'm not too far from the price in Canada ...
Acura is selling every TPMS 59.99$ ...

Keep in mind that the OEM TPMS sensor assembly doesn't come with the valve cap and the washer.

So you still have to pay for the valve cap and washer separately, in addition to the sensor assembly itself.

Ok thanks for the info.
God, it's not that easy.
There's a set of 18'' rims with TPMS from Acura TL that a guy is selling not so far from my place...I didn't want to go in 18'' but I might do the move and resell the 17'' rims I bought not long ago....
Actually, the rims that I bough are 5x120 but not exclusive to TL so, not even sure if the TPMS will fit!
This ain't easy to put winter wheels on a TL damn!! lol

If there was a way to disconnect that, I would do it right now! I used to manually take the pressure of my tires and I was fine with that

Interesting.
Edward, you say you used TPMS from the U.S.
May be a dumb question but did your display continue to read in kPa rather than psi ? I assume it did. (?) Mysterious!

This whole subject is a can of worms. At first I thought the TPMS system was a waste of time, a hassle, and unnecessary expense. I still think that but I also find myself using the display a lot and it has alerted me to low pressures a few times that were a surprise. So I sort of like it. It just seems like all this stuff is priced to generate profit rather than provide a real useful feature. You can buy a laptop computer for the price of a set of TPMS, crazy. But you get a remote control for a frikken ceiling fan for free.

^^^^^

The TPMS sensor basically measures the tire pressure and sends the raw data to the TPMS receiver unit for processing and conversion.

For US specs TL, the data will be converted accordingly and displayed in PSI; whereas for Canadian specs TL, will also be converted accordingly and displayed in KPA.

It does make sense actually, the TPMS are just there to read the pressure, the computer will show you the information either in kpa or psi, depending where you are...
I wish it would be in psi but no... kpa

Me too. I wish the pressure would have displayed in PSI.

You can't change the pressure reading alone by itself. The preference will also change the Canadian km/h, l/100km, etc. readings to the US ones.
