Pic Request - TL Lowered w/ H&R Springs
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking to see what the TL would look like with H&R sport springs. Looks like this will lower it by about 1.5"? Curious to see what this looks like before I pull the trigger.
Also, is this a challenging thing to install? Could I take it to my local garage, should I have the Acura dealer install it, or do I need to take it to some specialty shop? I live in MA if that matters.
Thanks,
Tim

OH SNAP! these look really NICE. I just ordered a set of RJ Lenends in Liquid Graphite. Definitely going to install the H&Rs. Seriously....these look SO NICE! Thanks for posting.

How is the ride? Is it bouncy? And did you have to get a camber kit?

Not too bad - it's much improved over stock. Want to be able to dial in my drop better and better configure dampers. So I'm getting the XLR8 Coilovers - Probably installed in the next month or so.

I'm looking at H&Rs website and I was wondering if the springs will fit FWD.

Is it for AWD only?
Thanks.

Ohhh man, today I had my mechanic friend install my H&R Sports on my 2010 TL SH-AWD. Personally, I feel the ride (without the drop) should've come stock from the factory. The springs for some reason is less jarring than stock springs, and it easily glides over dips on the fwy...

Coil-overs FTW
Spend a little more and do it right.

^Eventually you will need new struts. Anytime you run OEM struts at a limited stroke functionality will be sacrificed. If you just want your car to look cool, go ahead a get the H&R, Eibach, etc.
A true drop with an adjustable coil-over set up that is specifically engineered for your vehicle will improve the handling. Most lowering springs just create a bouncing/hopping nightmare on the street or track.
When you lower your car, you also lower the center of gravity. The goal is not to just look cool, but to reduce body roll, thus improving the handling. However, handling characteristics of the car are not only determined by the center of gravity. You also have to consider the dampening system, spring rate, condition of the road, side-walls of your tires, unsprung weight, tire grip, geometry of the suspension and so on.
There are a ton of aftermarket manufacturers coming up with different brands and types of coilovers. Coilovers are the best option because they are adjustable. You can adjust the right height and in some cases you can also adjust the dampening thus produce superb handling.
After all, who wants a car that is all show and no go.

The ride is great. My 3G TL was lowered on tein SS and was low... Very stiff but it handled great. The 4G stock ride is very comfortable and when lowering on the h&r spring the ride is almost unchanged. If you want the drop but do not want to compromise the ride this is the way to go.

Hope you guys don't mind me intruding in the 4G section but I have a question and this seems like the right place. I'm getting ready to put some drop springs on my 3G TL and I want to make sure I'm getting the right springs. I want to drop it about 1.5" but I still want to retain as much of the comfort as possible as I drive 100 miles every day to work and back. Do the Tein S-Tech's result in a stiffer ride? Do the H&R Sports have a better quality ride? The price difference is about $50 so not that big a deal.

Our details of how the ride is from 3G to 4G probably won't relate well. You should check out the 3G section - there is a wealth of info over there. The 3G guys have modded their car in just about every way possible.

Actually I was looking for a comparison between Tein and H&R springs to see what the opinions are on the ride quality not necessarily 3G compared to 4G. There doesn't seem to be much discussion of H&R springs in the 3G area.
