My 2012 Graphite Metallic Tech Elite TL

I traded my 2005 A-spec TL for a 2012 tech elite (advance for my american friends) back in December.

Since then I have had the lip kit installed, bought the ebay rear window spoiler and had it lowered on h&r springs. Got some vled's and changed out the DRL bulbs and fogs.

Up next is a RV6 Jpipe (ordered) and hopefully either the ATLP or XLR8 exhaust. Also with Nexson's help I'm going to get some custom spacers.

Yesterday was the first nice day in a long time so I took the winter snows off and put on the summer wheels.

Gave the car a bath and took a few pics.

I will try and get some more pics taken with a photographer friend of mine. but until then all I have are these pics.

What do you guys think??

My 05 TL was lowered on tein ss with edfc. I had it very low and the ride was quite stiff. With the 4G I wanted to maintain the luxury ride while improving the looks and handling and I decided that h&r was the way to go.

Great colour! This colour was my second choice and my wife's first colour choice for the TL.

Nice TL !!
couple of questions
would having aftermarket springs increase the wear on the struts? how much was the drop front and rear?

Yep it increases wear and usually drops the car 1.25-1.5inches.

would it become a big problem? if one's planning to keep the car for a long period of time...

Yes it would. Before I got the 09 TL I had a 2006 3.5 altima which had lowering springs and performacnce struts. The car didn't have too many break downs but I always ended up replacing ball points, tie rods, and everything much faster than the OEM recommendations. Even the steering wheel started clunking and making sounds bc the U-joint in the steering shaft took the impact of the bumps. I think you can expect this as the car will take a toll esp if you are keeping this for a longer term. With 127k on the altima the whole car would rattle when going over bumps. I'm thinking about lowering the TL bc the handling was so nice on the altima but I don't want to ruin the ride so I might wait some time before I make this move.

No problem at all. When the oem shocks go, just replace them with aftermarket adjustable ones.

But rather than having to pay for installation charge twice, it is much better to swap out the shocks, the springs, and the sway bars all at the same time.

I know few people that has sticked with springs the whole time they had their cars that being said sometimes you will get lucky and don't have to change anything other times you will end up changing out your suspension. I really feel it has alot to do with where you live also and how much work your suspension has to do.

Beautiful car. I think the ride height is fine, but it would definitely benefit from darker window tint.

I love your car! I love the drop in the suspension (although I wouldn't do it myself) but the one feature I think makes a very positive effect is the "Roof Spoiler"!

Congrats my Canadian fella!

Well done Sir. Wouldn't change a thing except maybe some spacers to push the wheels out a bit more, but it still looks great!

I had H & R springs in my 06 Altima SE-R, bought the car new, and threw the springs on with about 15,000km on the odo. I drove the car as a daily driver, through all seasons, allways on the highway. Did 165,000km in about 3 years.....sold the car with original struts. Changed tie rods and ball joints at 150,000km, which is what you would expect you need to do at 150,000km, regarless of being lowered. I only changed tires once. (summer tires that is). So i think lowering a car is fine, as long as you don't slam the car. H & R's were awsome parts. I want to put them on my TL.....just waiting for Cash.

Smile 2012 TL with RV6 Jpipe.

I ordered the J pipe from RV6 and was selected as the 2012 test fitter for the J pipe.

I had time to get the install done today and took a few pics.

First pic is of the stock pipe and subframe intact. You need to remove the 5 bolts plus one clip to remove the subframe piece.

This pic just shows the new bolts and spacers. The bolt on the left is the stock bolt.

During the install we actually found that the new bolts were a bit too long and we did not actually need them. We just used the stock bolts which worked perfectly fine.

This pic shows the j pipe installed with the subframe installed.

You can see the clearance created by the spacers.

This pic just shows the spacer and how much it drops the subframe down.

We did run into one small issue. We were unable to line up the hanger with the bolts that hold it to the bottom of the car. We ended up removing the rubber hanger all together and leaving the j pipe attached to the cats and exhaust. It is very sold and does not move at all. Not sure how important that one hanger is.

The car definitely sounds more aggressive especially when vtech kicks in. The exhaust sound is a little deeper. So far this mod is absolutely awesome and I recommend it to all. Even those with the 2012 TL.
