Won't shut off. Goes into accessory mode

Started happening a few days ago. When it's in park I hit button to shut it off. Message says push twice to shut off. When I do the second message says it's in accessory mode. At first I turned it back on and then it would shut off. Now, it won't. Ideas?

You posted in the wrong section that could be one reason you haven't received any replies yet. I think someone also had the same issue, how's the shift knob is it loose or intact? Search the boards to see if you can find something. I'm sure you properly put it is park but it seems as if the car is not recognizing that its in park hence the notification of accessory mode when you hit the start button to turn it off.

I've got similar problems, it's the shift knob button-- if it's not fully extended then the car will not recognize it.

I had this problem. It's that the shifter isn't making proper contact when you shift to park. The shift cable has to be adjusted. I took it to the dealer and it was fixed under my extended warranty. I had found, and brought with me, the Acura Service News for May 2013 which explains how to fix it, but it says to hook up the HDS, whatever that is, to diagnose it.

HDS = Honda Diagnostic System. Only the dealer has this.

The thing about car repairs or any kind of repair in life involves visual intelligence... it may be the shifter cables or it may not be the shifter cables...One has to go in and look to see what exactly is happening.

Is there anything blocking the shifter when setting it in park? I was having the same issue and noticed that the wire for my cell charger was preventing the shifter from actually going into Park. Not sure if that may be your issue.

^^^^ Yes, I had this problem. It's a misadjusted shift cable issue, .

Bad remote slot, stick your finger in there, press down and pull out. Don't use the slot again or replace it.
