Can't fully shutdown the car

Hi,

I'm a new Acura owner, recently bought a 2011 TL.

the first few days i've driven it didn't see any issue. however yesterday it happened to be twice. When I park my car and the car is in "park", i can't turn off the car using the start/stop button. When i press the button it'll go to Accessory mode, and when i press it again it'll go to On mode asking me to put my foot on the breaks to start the car. it will just cycle between these two mode. Both cases i had to press the button about 10-15 time before the car decided to shutoff.

it seems to me its not detecting the car is in "park", that's the only reason i can think of its doing this. has anyone seen or heard of this?

how does the shift knob feel when you switch between gears? if you feel it is the shift knob that is not connecting maybe it could need to be checked out
are you still under warranty to have it looked at?

its an automatic, i don't feel any problems putting it in reverse or drive or even sport. the car still has the major components warranty, not sure if this is covered under it. i'm trying to get a video of it, but it doesn't happen all the time.

Could be stretched shift knob cable. Get it readjusted. Will fix the problem.

a bad key slot unit, or a bad start/stop button will cause this. flap in the key slot will get stuck open (or closed) so the car will think you have the key inserted in the slot
