Exclamation Window reverses back down

I just picked up my CPO about a month ago. I really am enjoying my 2011 TL. Problem is, it's been to the shop 2x for the same problem. I'm confident the dealership will fix it. Besides, it's under warranty so no out of pocket on my end and they always provide me with a loaner. Would like to hear from you guys if you experienced the problem and if you have a solution so that I might guide the dealership.

Here is the problem:

Drivers side only: I roll window down. Stop half way. Then attempt to roll it back up.....problem is, it goes down....so then I have to press the switch again to make it go up.

1st trip to dealer: they reset the switch and did some cleaning on window
after about a week, the problem came back

2nd trip to dealer: they replaced the regulator and channel after a day, problem came back.

Now I'm scheduled to take the car back in about a week. Was told by service advisor that it can't be mechanical so must be electrical. They will now look for an electrical problem.

Hope they fix it cause I hate to have my new car spending more time at the dealership than on my driveway.

I hope someone in here has had this problem with an ultimate solution.

Thanks and cheers.

I have the same issue. I just live with it... Sucks but I think it's a design flaw in the rubber around the window edges. It makes the window thing there's something stuck and then makes it go back down. I'm also out of warranty so I can't do anything.

This TSB is not exactly the same as your description, but the cleaning and lube procedure may help your case.

TSB 10-014, Power window goes up and reverses on its own, is slow to open or close, or squeals, creaks, clunks, or clicks.

and all tsbs are somewhere on this forum site, along w/ the special instructions necessary to access the TSBs.

Might be a short in the system... but that is just a wild guess.

It happens to my 4G TL once in a while, on both the driver side and the front passenger side windows.

Also happened 2-3 times on my 2014 MDX.

Purely random occurrence, and is impossible to reproduce.

If the dealership has a fix, please let us all know.

Smile 3rd visit coming up

My third visit coming up is this Monday. Something interesting happened. I tried the other day to duplicate the problem. After a dozen times, the window DID NOT create the same problem. Meaning, the window worked fine as it should be. Then another poster said it happens to them on cold days. So I started thinking, the problem was happening on cold days and since it's been freaking cold in NYC in Spring, I haven't gotten the chance to test the window on warmer days except for the other day when the temperature hit nearly 60 degrees. Maybe the cold weather has an effect on the power window. Either way, it's still a flaw in Acura that from what I read, needs to be resolved.

Exclamation Update!!!

I went to pick up my 2011 TL w/Tech, service guy at dealership said nothing appeared wrong. Window is working as it should. He had them remove the door panel re-adust the bolts and check the computer for errors. I then took my car and before leaving the dealership, I called the service adviser over to my car. The problem occurred again. He was shocked cause the night before and this morning he checked my car and the problem did not exist. (Guess my TL doesn't like me ) Anyways, after checking again, they determined that it must be the switch. So, my TL remains at the dealership awaiting yet another part to be replaced. At this point, this is a mystery with Acura as it is for me too since I have some knowledge of electronics.

So to sum it up, this will be the fourth visit. (well technically the third visit since I didn't take it home with me today) I'm not mad at them, after all, they did not assemble the car. I have complete faith that they are doing all they can to fix this problem. Besides, my TL is still under factory warranty and they gave me a 2014 RLX as loaner.......however, I like my TL better over the RLX

So, new regulator, new channel, now I'm going to get a new switch.....if this doesn't fix it......am at lost as to what to do next. Any opinions?

Mine does the same thing, but only when it is cold, and then it will do it rather consistently. I have learned to just remember the auto up function can't be used when it gets cold.

I went to the dealer w/ this same issue about 12-13 months into my car's life. They said it's common. Something (dirt/grease/etc) is blocking the intrusion sensor (the sensor which causes the windows to roll back down if there's something in the way).

They cleaned it under warranty, and now (a year and some months later) the issue's come up again. I'm not too worried about it, as it's hardly an inconvenience, but it's there, and there seems to be no permanent fix.
