Sound happens after the car is already warmed up, turned off for a bit then turned back on. Any ideas on what this could be?

Sounds like bad alternator. Mine failed two weeks ago and sounded the same. I installed a Denso reman unit from NAPA and sound disappeared.
Put you ear as close to alternator as possible to verify that it is indeed the source of the sound.

 

Does potentially sound bearing related. What does it do when the engine RPM's increase? Become louder and high frequency? If so, I'd bet Reorge is right.
