My upper windshield rubber insert has started to turn to mush. Wondering if anyone has replaced the rubber themselves. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

Safelite used a generic one when my windshield was replaced. You should be able to go to a local auto place and get one that fits right in.

 

Did they install after the window was installed or at the same time as they set the window in. Factory strip has a tape covering the sticky attachment point. The manual has them attach the strip prior to seating the window. My question is if the factory strip with the sticky will seat properly just pressing the replacement strip into the vacated old strip area, if that makes sense .
