TL '09 check engine light on
Thanks for posting this Imrogerxd. I received the same message and luckily I was parking at the time. Once I parked, I decided to do what I needed in order to allow the oil to collect in the oil pan. I checked the dip stick and everything was okay. Also, my oil light was not on, just like yours, I was at 40% oil life. However, I'm now at 30% oil life with no new pop up messages or oil light turning on, and still at safe oil level. I assume it's just a reminder because I haven't been to the dealership in 9 months and they want to make sure I'm keeping up with my maintenance, but that's an assumption on my part.
Any official input as to why this message pops up is much appreciated.

if you physically checked the oil dipstick and oil is at an acceptable level, then it's a sensor issue.
I know you fellas in the SHAWD love to take corners hard!

it could simply be oil sloshing around while you corner, triggering the sensor.

EE4LIFE, thanks for providing those links. I'll have Acura take a look at my sensor during my next oil change, just to make sure everything is working.
Justnspace, you're not that far off, I was having some fun before I pulled into the parking lot.

The "Oil Life" has nothing to do with the oil level!!!! you need to check the dip-stick to see the oil level. This can happen when the oil level gets low(ish) and you take a hard corner, or break hard. The oil gets pushed to away from the center of the oil pan, and no oil gets pulled to circulate through the engine (oil starvation). Even worse is when it gets so low that no oil is pulled to circulate during normal driving. Check your dip-stick, and you will most likely be 1.5 - 2 quarts down.
I now keep a quart of oil in my car on long trips. Good Luck!

Exactly ^.
Seems to be quite a few owners who misinterpret the oil life indicator (50% oil life or whatever, e.g.) . As he said ^ you must check the level the old fashioned way. Make sure the car is level and the oil is operating temperature. If it very low, you may be burning oil.
