Squeek noise from engine

since the weather has been real cold the last few weeks i have heard a slight squeek noise from the engine area at idle.I noticed it while i was drying the car after i washed it and had it running.I opened the hood and can hear it but with the engine noise its hard to pin point where its from.sounds like around the belt area maybe.Anyone else have a noise like this?I didn't spend much time listening since its just too cold. Its a 2010 tl shawd.

i had a squeal/squeak that would come from the motor of my 07 type s, it ended up being the crank shaft pulley that drives the main drive belt or serpentine belt...

I could hear squeaky sounds coming from the engine from a cold morning start. Otherwise, I don't hear anything.

Was it deemed normal or a needed repair? I ask because I noticed this on my 4th gen.

I'll preface what I'm about to say by letting you know I'm no mechanic by any means, and no meteorologist or scientist for that matter either.

To the OP do you have your car garage kept most of the time or does it sit out in the cold weather? One explanation I've heard for the noise you may be hearing goes as follows: If your car has been exposed to the cold weather, obviously that same cold air makes its way to your engine compartment. When you start your car the engine produces heat and the cold air condensates, the condensation can form anywhere, including on one of your belts. When you start your engine that condensation that has formed on one of the belts can cause a "squealing" noise as the belt turns and runs the condensation off. So, in that scenario it's normal and nothing is really wrong.

If the noise persists under other circumstances then maybe having it checked is a safe thing to do. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this it's just something I've heard and seems to be logical.

My car has never spent a night outside and it has been having a very faint squeal. It isn't audible unless you are listening to the engine idle, but its noticeable compared to warm weather.
