Rust on rotor hub-2010 TL

I saw on a previous post that on the 2010 tls they fixed the rust problem on the rotors. Basically i noticed today that my car had rust on the rotor hub and i was wondering since it was suppose to be fixed on the 2010 tls (if thats true) can i have the dealer clean it up and spray paint it for me

OEM rotors seem to have that problem no matter which Acura you have. The best thing to do is get aftermarket rotors (stoptech, racingbrake, etc.), which have a protective coating that does not allow rust to occur on your rotor hub.

Or get a Dupicolor brake caliper paint kit and paint 'em. Paint calipers (if you want) rotor hubs and rotor edges. Pretty easy and pretty effective.

I get rust every time the rotors get wet, especially when I wash my car. The remedy is easy. Go drive your car for one block and apply the brakes several times (light and hard braking). When you return, the rust is gone (and won't come back, until they get wet again).

Works for the swept area, not the hub though.

Are there no shops that does this as a service? Cant I pay someone to do this for me?
I dont wanna have to take my wheel off. Theres no spray that doesnt require wheel removal?
I dont have a level space to jack my car up,

Take it easy on bumping all the old threads that talk about rust on rotors.. yore going to miss answers to your questions

it's absolutely normal. You either live with it. Or replace the rotors . It's purely aesthetic and doesn't affect performance.

I stumbled across a simple fix for this problem of rust on the center part of the rotors on my 2010 TL. This has worked amazingly well.
Clean off the rust by lightly sanding; you don't need to get it 100% perfect.
Then smear a light coating of silver anti-seize grease around the area that tends to rust.
Obviously you don't want to get this on the surface of the rotor that provides the pad contact.
Try it and see for yourself. Experiment your way into it if you are skeptical.
Skeptical is good.
You will thank me.
J.

Just get them painted. When I had my caliper's painted black, they just sprayed the hubs black as well.

Acura thought I was crazy to expect the rust on my rotors to be their responsibility.
So how on earth did you guys get the dealer to paint them FOR YOU? Im not comfortable doing it myself as i dont own the proper tools, abd Every autobody place i visit stops me before I even finish satying YOU CANT PAINT ROTORS! What the hell?

How can bumping an old thread (that never resolved the original issue) make me miss the solution? I bumped it in pursuit of a solution. Perhaps someone RECENTLY had the issue and fixed it.

Probably because you're asking to paint the whole rotor and not just the hub area.

ANyone with the tinitest knowledge of cars would know you cant paint the part that touches the pad. Obviously I meant the parts that do not contact the pad. IM just gonna go after market.

Well you can paint the rotors all you want, go drive down the block and the paint'll be gone. I mean you don't need to do anything special to paint your stock rotors. Take them off, mask off the rotor, and get high temp spray paint. You can use the ones made for calipers or ovens or whatever it says on the bottle as long as it's high temp.

Sand it well and use a primer before the heat paint. One or two light coats of this... or something similar.

Rust Check Rust Killer | Canadian Tire

... with enough drying time inbetween coats. Then coat it with something like VHT high temperature caliper paint. Five years later and no rust on the rotor hubs.

Wear a mask and eye protection. The sanding and painting is deadly shit.

Do not paint the rotor surface itself !!! It is normal for humidity or rain to cause some rust on the rotor surface, especially if you leave the car parked for a while. It goes away after you drive. If you are so picky, well, get some cloth and wipe off the rust with some brake cleaner spray. But do not paint the surface where it touches the pads !! That is the worse thing you can do to your brakes and if you do I am sure some mechanic will think you are as intelligent as a door knob !
