Power Steering issues
Power Steering issues
I have a 2012 TL Advance with 233k miles. The steering recently started having issues. It's tight to turn and very stiff. It does not recenter itself after making a turn and at highway speeds, it feels even stiffer. It even has a "stickiness" feel too it where you move to change lanes and it feels stuck and then loosens suddenly. I know there is a very long extension for power steering on these cars, but I'm not sure mine has the same issue. I have no lights or warnings. Anyone else had anything similar?

Thank you for the response. I'm not sure if it's the spring. It feels like it just won't recenter because it's so tight and not loose enough to spin on it's own. Does there need to be an error code for Acura to cover that under the extended bulletin? The wording is vague to me.
"This warranty covers vehicles where the steering feels heavier than normal, or is hard to turn, particularly when the vehicle is not moving, and either the EPS indicator blinks with no DTCs, or the EPS indicator comes on steady with DTC 32-09 (motor current correlation), DTC 32-08 (EPS control unit internal circuit [current sensor]), or DTC 61-04 (motor harness malfunction).

. And if on the topic, then you need to read the codes in the EPS and then check all the voltages that should be supplied to the EPS.
It's funny to realize that there are people who think that clock spring actually have a spring inside that returns the steering wheel to the center position

Thank you for the response after that. The first part to your response was not needed. I came here to ask a question among a group of auto enthusiast and pick the brain of their collective knowledge and experiences. Making a crack at someone's lack of knowledge is not what we're here for. If I knew it all, I wouldn't have asked the question. If you have knowledge to share and your first instinct is to put someone down for not knowing the answer, that says alot about your character.
