New car problems

Hey,

So I picked up my new 2014 TL Elite last Thursday. I'm coming from a 2012 TSX...which I loved! The power on the TL is insane

So down to business...

The first issue I noticed was a plasticy vibration coming from the rear. I had a friend in the back seat and they couldn't pinpoint it. It is intermittent, but on days that it is active it would be there the entire drive. I took it to Acura and of course it wasn't happening that day lol, but they said they'd take a look at it. I got the car back (it was a rainy day) and there was dirty water on my door handle, and dirt scuff marks on the inside of the door (probably from his feet). Not a big deal...I grabbed a paper towel and wiped it off. I didn't notice the rattle on my way home, but when I got home I noticed that the rear inside cloth panel (C pillar?) had dirty finger prints all over it. Odd. Either somebody hates their job or they were totally out of it that day. Anyway, Acura said they'd take care of it. A few days later I was on a super bumpy road and I noticed the rattle came back, so whatever he did back there was not sufficient.

Yesterday I also thought I heard a brief rattle coming from my door...I'll have to keep an ear open for that. There's nothing more distracting to me than a rattle--I don't use the word hate much, but if there's any a time that it applies it'd be now lol

I also feel like the wheel vibrates when I'm on the highway. Maybe I'm being too picky but I feel like it should be 100% firm...my TSX certainly didn't vibrate on the highway. It's worse at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions. It's more than subtle but less than worrisome. I had Acura look at it and they said the wheels were aligned; I'll have them look again when they are detailing my car on Monday.

you need to find if the noise is from the headliner or from the rear seats itself.. check the trunk to see if all your spare tire equipment is secure.. check door panel pockets to make sure nothing is there making it rattle

Hi AZD,

I have a '13 TSX now and thinking of upgrading to TL. Which TL did you get?

Aside from the rattle issues, do you have any regrets getting the TL?

What did you like about the TL that TSX does NOT have?

Thanks!

You might want to wait for the new TLX. Even the newer TLs with the 6 speed auto have been panned for lousy transmission performance. They're otherwise reliable cars.

Cons: no 60/40 split (found that out after taking it home lol), rattles (happened with every car I've owned), old navi system (I wouldbhave preferred AcuraLink but its not avail until TLX), 1st gear forced shifting even when in Sport mode

Pros: power, nice upgrades from TSX (ventilated seats, blind spot notifier, 10 speakers), AWD on 19" is nice.

I agree with MED, at least wait to test the TLX. I got (what I think was) a REALLY good deal because its my 3rd Acura and they're trying to offload TL's, so if price is a concern then do it up!
