Nagging check engine light issue!

I’ll try to keep this short.I have had my TL throwing a light for months now. When i checked it the first time the scanner read “cylinder misfire 4,5 & 6” so since my mechanic did a valve adjustment recently i brought it back to him.He claimed the valves needed one more slight adjustment and the computer is very sensitive and will pickup on that.He did the adjustment and said problem is fixed.A week later, light comes on again.I take it back.He said he made a few adjustments and everything was good.Later that night, light comes on again.I bring it back and this time he says it was a “low voltage issue” which i thought was bs.Light comes back on a week later and i said ive had enough and im gonna look around myself. The car runs a little rough, but only rough enough that i would notice because i drive it everyday.A stranger wouldnt notice.I checked the plugs and they seemed ok,but i changed them anyways.Cleared the codes, but the light came back on within minutes.Just a side note, the light only comes on when im idling. It never once came on while driving.I just bought (3) coil packs,so going to see if this does anything.Im basically trying to rule out the obvious first.Standing behind the car,i do notice alot of putt putt noises.I will try to share the video. If not the coil packs where should i go next? Any help would really be appreciated as this is driving my insane!

Misfires only one one bank.... Lets start looking at fuel trims firs on bank 2 and compare to bank 1. Also misfires on on cold engine only?

I wouldnt say on a cold engine only.Light only comes on if i am idling somewhere,so the motor is always warm.I could clear the codes and a few hours later be sitting at a Dunkin donuts lets say just sipping coffee for a few and then boom check engine light comes on.As i mentioned, the car has never thrown a light while driving. Its always while im idle. Not sure if its designed to do that.I changed the coil packs on 4,5 & 6 earlier, cleared the codes and did some driving around for a few hours until the light came back on.Thats where i am at currently

You said checked the spark plugs, did you take a picture? Check the fuel trims, also remove oxygen sensor and check cat condition. I had couple Honda/Acura cars with misfires at idle on one bank with bad cat.

Going off what my scanner is reading, the short term fuel trim for bank 1 is jumping from 0% to -3.1%.Long term fuel trim is reading 3.9%

Short term fuel trim on bank 2 is reading -7.0% to -10.2% going as low as -6.2%. Long term fuel trim is pinned at 9.4%

No idea what any of that means honestly, but figured id share incase it helped lol no idea what numbers are normal at idle

Well, it is removing fuel for some reason if long fuel trim is on positive side 9.4% and it is going as low as -10% this is no good. CHeck your CAT

That was my fault. That last number was supposed to be negative 9.4% not positive.I got the plugs at Autozone.

It is also throwing a “random/multiple cylinder misfire detected” code if that makes a difference. You might be onto something though now that i think about it.Sometimes theres an odd rattling noise under the car only when accelerating. When i have been under there doing other work i have whacked that area around the cat and flex pipe and it literally sounds like something is bouncing around.Always figured it was rust or something because that entire area is starting to rust out.Its getting late and im in NY so tomorrow is a new day. That will be my task tomorrow.I appreciate it and hope to stay in touch. Most people on here just tell you to F off and go find the answers yourself lol

Since your mech suggested low voltage, monitor the voltage for a couple of trips. I use my OBD scanner tool to do this.
although it does seem like a clogged cat, as it's only 1 set of banks. What else is on that side? Fuel rail?

Sorry for the delayed response guys.Between work and Thanksgiving havent had much time to mess with the Acura. So,for the hell of it i did a battery load test.Everything is running as it should.I did read up on diagnosing a bad cat,so going off my scanner i checked the outlet readings on both cats at about 2K rpms or so and i was getting about 1300-1400 degress leaving the cat on both banks. From what i have read that sounds about normal.I have not checked any 02 sensors. They are pretty rusted out,but sounds like something i should check and rule out.

Side note though,i am still getting that *put put* sound from the mufflers.Last time i was hearing that my mechanic said the valves were a bit out of sync and after he did the valve adjustment or atleast he said he did that noise was gone.He hasnt been charging me the last few times he has looked at my car because he says he stands by his work and if something he touched isnt working right hes gonna fix it.Pretty much the only reason i continue to go back to him.Think im gonna try him one more time.If this light comes on again im shopping elsewhere lol i have had enough. So sick of looking at these lights!
