Unhappy i cant get the check engine light to turn off!!! help

I have a 3.0 premium that has the check engine light on. its been close to a year now and its stilllll on. i went to a mechanic and paid for a engine dyegnostic. he told me it was the EGR valve, so i went and bought a new one. i had it installed and the engine light was still on. i went and got it checked again and was told it was the same thing. i had the engine cleaned out cause someone told me that might be the problem. i tought it was fixed cause the light finally went off. but after close to 60 miles the light turned back on. i have no clue wat it is so i guess i gave up and learned to live with it. i've spend close to 400 bucks trying to get rid of that dam light and cant do it. hopefully someone can help me cause that orange light is an eye sore!!

get a free reading from an auto parts store, it's probably the EGR again.

And please use the search feature, check for this in problems and fixes.

If you've been driving with a clogged EGR for the last year, then you'll have to do more than just buy a new EGR. Your Manifold probably needs to be taken off and totally cleaned out, as well as a seafoam treatment. While your at it go ahead and change your plugs. Also, Autozone will check the CEL for free but usually wont clear/erase the CEL (something about policy).
