Metal in seat pushing in my back

I bought a new TL a month ago and love it. I noticed almost immediately that there was a spot just below the mid-point of my back that was protruding in the seat, and when I feel back there I can feel 2 metal points. I didn't think much about it but when I'm in the car for longer than a half hour it starts to bother me. I just noticed today that if I pull the head rest forward (towards the windshield) the metal moves back away from my back. It's connected to the active headrest. I know the headrest is designed to go forward in an accident. It is really starting to bother me. I shouldn't have metal sticking in to my back while driving. Does anyone else notice this? I've searched a little on the internet and don't see anything about it. The passenger seat is the same.

Take the complaint to the dealer. Since this is a brand new car, the dealer should be able to fix it up for you.

Will do. I'll report back on what they say. I did find a couple other complaints like this.

Maybe the car is just happy to see you

Good luck getting it taken care of.

Just dropped off the car to the dealer. The 2011 TL he brought out as my rental felt the same. He said "I'm afraid this might be normal but we'll look into it". I can't imagine I'm the only one that this bothers? Does anyone else feel this hump in the seat? If you grab the headrest while sitting in the seat and pull it forward it goes away.

It sounds like it has to do with the active head restraint system.

You're probably feeling the "lower unit".

I know exactly what you're referring to. I've felt lower back pressure since I got my TL about 10 months ago. Once I read your post and pulled forward on the headrest, I could feel the pressure moving backward into the seat. I tried taking my headrest off to see if that would help, but it didn't seem to do anything. I doubt the dealer will be able to do anything because, as has been shown above, it is the design of the seat. How unfortunate.

Well, I'll tell you what I did to fix it for me. I pushed the headrest forward and put a socket from a socket wrench in that spot, keeping the headrest forward and recessing the spot that had been bothering me. For me it's bliss, no more pain. I'm sure Acura wouldn't recommend this as this is a safety feature in the seat but I couldn't live with the pressure in my back and they can't fix it.
