Limp mode and loss of power

Odd thing happened on my way home today. While accelerating onto an on ramp in 3rd gear, I noticed the car was unresponsive to the gas pedal. It was just stuck at 3k rpm's. Prodding the gas pedal did nothing. I down shifted, which seemed to fix the issue. No Lights on the dash lit up. I have a 2012 6 sipped with 15k miles and use 93 octane.

Took the car out later tonight and everything seems ok. Could it have been just an electrical hiccup?

When was your last oil change? Check your dipstick for low oil

How much gas did you have left? Also was it a sharp round loop on-ramp? If so, then gas could of shifted, and fuel pump ran dry for a second or two (car bogs).

Oil is fine, it's a hair under the max mark.

Weird. Probably what you suggest, an electrical hiccup. What sort of shape is your battery in?

I wouldn't worry about it, but watch to see if there's a recurrence.

*UPDATE*

So this happened again the other day. What is odd is that it happened in the same spot on the road as the last time. I was drifting up to a traffic circle, came to a stop, then accelerated. When I shifted from 1st to 2nd, I lost all engine power. The RPM's did not drop and the engine did not stall. It felt as if the gas pedal was unplugged. Again, I prodded the gas pedal a few times and everything came back to normal. No check engine or any other lights.

I think this same thing happened to me a while back. I had actually forgot about it until reading this thread. I don't remember the specifics but I'm pretty sure it was very similar to your story. It hasn't happened since and that was a while ago, but it's interesting that it happened to someone else too.

I actually submitted a complaint on the NHSTA website about it. The most recent complain on their page for the 2012 is actually for the same issue. I recommend you also submit a complaint. If there are enough, they may look into it.
