Headlight adjusters...?

Hi;

Yesterday I picked up a _very_ nice used 2010 TL SH-AWD Tech 6M with only 6000 miles for US$35,800. It has splash guards, winter mats, trunk guard, wheel locks and the Midnight Chrome grill.

http://www.goseegee.com/used/60815/2010/Acura/TL/~

The only problem is that the aftermarket tint is illegal and I have to get it stripped off before I get pulled over by a Washington State trooper (a primary offense and a $124 fine) ;(

I really like the HID low beams, but the high beams don't seem to be very effective. I see a tall finger type adjuster for each headlight - does that set the angle on one of the beams, or on the entire headlight assembly? What exactly is the procedure for adjusting these lights?

What can I do to upgrade the high beams - some super white bulbs? Extra wattage bulbs? Recommendations?

Please point me to some previous headlight threads - I couldn't locate any using Search.

This is an amazing car and I hope I can contribute here.

Thanks.

thats not an adjuster, its a bumper for the hood when you close it...

Why would those knobs, if they are only bumpers, have a indicater for left and right, up and down? I was pretty sure they were headlight adjusters, however I've never tried it to verify.

Congratz on the purchase! That is an absolutely smoking deal on a 6MT. I keep thinking I should have waited a year for the prices to drop and stabilize. *slaps myself stupid*

I agree on the high beams, not as effective as the HID low beams, which are very nice and bright.

+1 on suggestions for replacement high beams

the adjustments are made from underneath the engine covers, you can see them through the holes in the plastic...they too have the arrows left and right and down and up by them....

the black knobs are hood bumpers, and they are also adjustable, hence the d and u by them....

if you still dont believe me, then go out to your car and turn the black know counter clockwise a few turns and see what happens...it will come out and you will feel silly!!

Thanks for the comments. I feel like an idiot about the hood bumpers, but OTH I have never seen those with Up/ Down beside them..... Does Honda think mechanics are that ignorant of thread direction?

Anyway - do the hidden adjusters move the entire light housings? I like the setting of the lows, but I think the highs could come up a bit - maybe I will tweak both sides up 1/4 turn and see how they look.... If I get flashed by oncoming traffic, I will have to drop them back down.

BTW - the sales guy told us that the car was headed off to the Auto Auction on Monday - and we bought the car on Saturday. They had had the car nearly 60 days and my wife and I were the only folks who showed any interest.

It pains me to say it, but I think the days of the MT are numbered (and not just for Acura/Honda). After all, how you can talk on your phone, eat your burger and shift a transmission all at the same time?

Talk via Bluetooth, eat with one hand, hold the steering wheel with the other, and when shifting time comes, take your hand off the steering wheel, shift and return hand to steering wheel... voila.. lol... ??

better high beams

Google HIR headlamp bulbs. A couple of places on the net sell them. You will have to (30sec job) trim the plastic on the bulb a bit for them to fit perfectly. All explained on the different sites that sell them.

I have them on a Subaru and my Acura. At least 30% more high beam light.
