Electronic Power Steering problem!

Hello Acurazine folks. I have a major problem with my EPS (Electronic Power Steering). I have a 2013 Acura TL and on Dec 28th I was rear ended by a box truck. Ever since then my car has been in the auto-body shop, I told Acura that I didn't want it fixed I wanted it totaled, I have gap insurance. I just don't know what else could be wrong with the vehicle down the road, but Allstate said well the value of your car is $18k and the total repair is $10k so that's not 75% of the value, which is ridiculous. Anyway, I get my car back on Friday and I drive it around town just to some local places, on Friday and Saturday, no problem. I then go to see family on Sunday and 3-4 miles down the highway my EPS light comes on and my car is hard to steer and it's saying check Power Steering! Like I said I have no idea what other problems could have been caused from being rear ended. Has anyone else had this type of problem occur with the 4th Gen Acura TL? If so, how much did it cost to fix? What could be the problem? Any ideas or facts will be much appreciated. I'm at a loss and very disappointed with my insurance company and the body shop. They will be picking my car up today and taking it to a dealership to have them perform a diagnostic test. The body shop had the NERVE to tell me, oh well if this is not a result of the accident you are liable. Bull****! I can smell a lawsuit coming.

it could be a variety of issues causing the check steering system. Something as simple as a low battery or something as severe as damaged wiring from the accident.

tell the dealership that the car was recently repaired at a bodyshop and they'll give you a nice bill to give to the shop claiming it's all their fault.

Thanks for the heads up, but I don't think it has anything to do with a low battery. I believe it's definitely connected to the wiring or a computer malfunction, I have no idea what else may have been damaged due to the accident.

Could be anything when it comes to the electric power steering. Could be inside the actual steering column where something is going wrong. Or they forgot to connect the wiring.

If you had the code I could tell you what it is
