Battery problem?

I was listening to radio in my 2009 TL two days ago. The engine was not running. After 40 minutes, check abs, check VSA messages displayed. Then I tried to start the car and it was dead. The volume level was at 5. I was surprise. Was this normal to drain the battery after 40 minutes?

Same thing happened to me a few months ago. I think its just the battery sucks. Don't go buying a new battery though. Acura has 4 year warranty on their batteries. Bring it back to the dealership and they will replace it for you N/C

that happened to me last winter, i was sitting in my car with my lights on,radio on, for about 20 min then i tried turning the car on and got all those alerts. had a toll truck come in a gave me a boost and car turned on, took it to the dealer and they said the battery was fine. i took matters into my own hands and never sat in the car with so many things runnung at once. i went to the dealer to have my suspension looked at and Had mine replaced under warranty last week, the dealer said the battery was not working properly.

acura/honda batteries...not good and lucky to last the 100 mos warranty. OEM battery #1, crapping out after 36 months, replaced under warranty. OEM battery #2 crapping out after 39 months. save myself further grief and went after market (interstate megatron plus 85 mos-rated #1 by CR for the battery size, and reviews were quite high on it).

you guys will find out/finding out: OEM batteries will not last. some die within a year, most will go within 2-3 yrs, some last 5-6 yrs (few and far between), most will go without any warning. if you find your lights/dash lights flickering and car hard to turn over...your battery is most likely ready to check out.

no need to get stranded.

I used a portable air inflator the other day on our 09 Ody. Plugged it into the port with the ignition on "ACC". Ran the inflator about 5-10 minutes total and battery went completely dead. Charged it back up and it has been fine since. Lesson learned - don't use anything on "ACC" - Run engine if power needed. Yes, the battery is nearing the end of its useful life at almost 3 years old but Honda OEM batteries are notoriously lousy. It will be replaced by a Diehard Gold when the time comes.

I found my car dead this morning. Leave her in the garage for the weekend. Dealership replaced the battery under warranty. I am all set for the winter.

Battery Drain

Same problem with battery drain. I just moved seats to change to winter mats and battery died. 2009 TL battery is approx. 43 months but this problem has occurred several times over past three years. I know OEM battery are problem. Does anyone know if the problem is eliminated by replacing OEM with better quality battery? Or, is problem internal?

OEM batteries R not the only one crapping out. I purchased a battery from Battery Plus (it's a Rayovac). I purchased 7/09 with 2yr replacement and 3yr prorate. It died today, now I had a choice of 2yr or 3yr free replacement and not prorated.

I thought R & D made things better!!

NO MO Rayovac batterys

Battery Replacement

I see several batteries being replaced. Does anyone who replaced the OEM with AM continue to experience the battery drain when in Acc mode? This looks like an internal problem. I just moved the seats and battery drained. Yet a charged battery does not drain with the delayed lights after inition is turned off.

I have no issues either. Perhaps the OP had a bad cell or cells in his battery. With a good working battery, there you NOT be any unusual drain from using accessories.

sometimes you just get a bad battery.. personally i would never leave my car on for 40+ mins with the screen on.. radio maybe.. but not the screen..

i have detailed my interior with the radio on and screen off for like 1hr 30 mins no problem..

if your going to get a battery, get a optima battery yellow top. best battery for street use.

I think the battery drain is an internal problem that didn't have enough issues to make it a Honda concern. I've never had a car where you couldn't use the Acc mode even if only for a short period of time. I just moved my pow seats and the battery died. If battery was bad, the charge wouldn't hold for any long period of time and battery would drain with the delayed exit lights. I'm switching out batteries to see if problem exist with different battery.

It was a bad battery. Dealer a battery test back in Dec last year. The battery did not hold any charge. So far I have not had any issue with the replacement.
