Like many on this site, I had the torque converter replaced. Now my TL has a distinct vibration at all speeds as soon as the transmission is engaged (from dead stop to highway speed). This increases with the air on as this appears to increase the load on the drive train. Other than the shifting issues, my car rode smoothly before the TC replacement. Now it feels like a constant tremor. The tech tried all of the tire and brake fixes, but this is obviously an issue resulting from the work done at the dealer. They claim that the engine mounts were fine. Anyone have a successful resolution with this issue on a fourth generation TL?

 

What were your symptoms that made them change the torque convertor? I didn't think that applied to the 2012, only up to the 2011..

 

The engine mounts may be fine, but the transmission mount may not be. I'd try to get under there and see if it needs to be replaced before trying anything else.

 

The symptom for the torque converter was balky shifting and constant attempts to downshift. As for the trans replacement, I am taking it in next week for the 4th time. Apparently the tech doesn't get paid for this work, so he is either eager to get this off his plate or has no idea what is going on. As for me, I'm beginning to consider cutting ties with Honda/Acura after 2 Accords, a Legend, and 3 TL's. I drove my wife's CRV last week and the ride was better than my Acura. Something is definitely wrong with that. I tried the Acura email for help, and all ZI got was a "Take it to your qualified dealer."
