Just installed mine...took a lot longer than I thought it would, but I took my time to do it carefully. Here are some of my personal observations:

> The hardest part for me was getting the old hoses off, especially the crank case line, which seemed fused extra strongly to the connector on the engine side...had to pry extra hard with the screwdriver on that one!

> There seem to be a lot of wiring harness points now that are just left to dangle after removing their securing points to old parts that don't exist anymore (the most notable one probably being the one that was clipped to the side of the old airbox with that plastic wiring duct of sorts). I assume its normal for these wires to now dangle where they will...

> The replacement 5/8" hose between the tube and engine seemed a bit too long, causing a stressful bend outward and bumping into and over the nearby box (I assume that is a fusebox). So I trimmed the length of that hose...

> With the intake installed, it seems like removing the filter for cleaning may require more than just loosening the filter clamp to get enough clearance to remove it? I guess I'll find out at the first maintenance interval...and speaking of, has anyone cleaned their filter yet? How many miles did you go before cleaning it?

> After buttoning everything back up after install and turning on the car, I had my radio code ready to unlock and found myself punching in the code when it stated to do so on the Navi screen. However, after numerous attempts of punching in the code without success, I finally realized that I had to press the radio power button on in order for the 'CODE' prompt to also show up on the mini LCD display bar before entering the code.

Finally, the good part: I took the car out for a ride and WOW! As everyone else states, the thing is an absolute BEAST now when you get on the gas! I LOVE it!!! Thanks to everyone on this thread for the insight and install tips and thanks to Excelerate for such a fast shipment!

does anyone have a dyno of before and after? I personally don't feel any extra power after installing the intake and a pulley. Maybe it's just me...but would like to see a dyno to be sure.

Might be a stupid question but the intake is compatible with the 10 tl shawd 6mt?

How long did it take you to install this? How easy of an install is this for someone who only opens their hood to clean underneath?

Hi Pete! For myself, it took me a little over a couple of hours, taking my time and being careful and reading all the install hints here as well as the instructions that came with the intake...and studying them all in advance of starting so that I knew what lay ahead and to optimize some of the steps. The thing that slowed me down the most was getting some of the old hoses off, especially the one under the throttle body - that was a PITA to get off due to the cramped quarters (need elf-sized hands to get in there). The one to the crankcase breather was a royal pain also since it was on so tight! If it weren't for some of the hoses being such a pain to remove, I probably could have cut the install time well in half or less. Overall, I think the key is to have good dexterity to use a screwdriver and wrench and needle-nose pliers within cramped quarters (especially to get to some of the hose clamps and such)...and probably above all, PATIENCE! (again, with some of those darn tight hoses!)

Any changes in fuel economy at all with this CAI?
Is the engine much louder at all rpm's too?
I assume this will void the warranty but is it easy to revert to the OEM air intake?

1. I noticed a 2mpg gain in fuel economy mainly because the sound it makes allows me to rev the engine less vs the quietness I had before where 5k rpm did not seem loud at all.

2. Engine gets noisier at 3k rpm and above, below it it's wisper quiet.

3. Warranty is void only on those components that are broken due to the intake.

I can't decide between the polished or the black intake...

Are you guys putting the covers back on the engine bay that go over the intake?

Is the black camouflaged enough so that my woman would never see it?

Does the polished intake get dirty easily (the tube part..not the filter :P)?

What do you think looks better?

IMO the black looks better, a woman would never figure out that it's a custom item.

I got black in mine and with all the covers it looks stock to the uninitiated.

What can you tell us about Rotora pads? How do you think they typically fare in a daily driven street with spirited driving in between? More bite but more dust?

The ROTORA H2 pads are low dust, low noise and they have good bite. They are a ceramic formulation.

my personal 0-60 tests show 0 gain with takeda intake and UR pulley installed same time. No dyno.

I think we need to see a dyno before we can say if that is true. Likely it's a 10whp increase, which on a 300hp car, will not be very noticeable.

Heck, I say it's worth the sound alone. I just installed my spacer and intake yesterday and it's an amazing difference. Sounds like adding an exhaust when you rev it upwards of 3k! Any hp gains are just icing on the cake for me!

What spacer did you use and where did you purchase it? Just curious.

I used the p2r spacer from excelerate.com. They have a special pakage for acurazine members that includes the gaskets as well.

I got a 2010 TL SHAWD auto w the tech package. It's been a while since I've owned a car. Had SUVish rides for quite a while. Loving it so far tho.

An intake and tbs are going to be my first mods. Looking forward to being compulsive with yet another vehicle

The gains are there. It isn't just about sound. However, a 10whp increase isn't going to result in shaving a second off your 0-60 time. But every mod helps and it does make a difference.

Intake and tbs shipped from XLR8 today. I'm pumped! I've done quite a bit of maintenance to my vehicles, but never installed an intake or tbs. I've read a lot about the intake installation, but how is the tbs install for difficulty?

The intake and tb spacer were the first mod's I've ever installed myself. TB spacer added about 5 mins to the intake install. Pretty easy and no instuctions really needed. Just need vice grips to remove bolt studs.

Very good to know. After seeing how good the fit and finish of this intake is, I would be first in line for there other products. i still can't believe the sound this intake makes.....

I just installed my new intake and throttle body spacer and I have a few questions for those of you that have installed this on a 3.7.

The instructions were perfect until I reached the final steps. On my 2010 SHAWD, the 5/8" tubing swap was confusing. On my car, the connection of the stock 5/8" tube is a ridgid pipe connecting to a rubble nipple coming out the side of the stock air box "tube". When I installed the Takeda, this ridgid tube did not line up very well with the "nipple" coming out the side of the metal airbox tube. In addition to this, the two tube ends are so close together that it was very difficult to put the 3" or so of 5/8" tubing that came with the kit to fit. The tubing is very short and has to make a pretty sharp angle. It doesnt kink, but it forces things a little out whack. In the picture in the instructions and the pictures in this thread, it looks like this ridgid tube on the car is not even there. Is this ridgid tubing a change with 2010? Or does this ridgid tube get completely replaced by the piece of 5/8" rubber hose that comes with the kit??? The ridgid tube on the car is fused with another tube, so I don't think it can really come out of the car.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about here? The car runs great, so I'm sure I've got things connected correctly. It just looks like this 5/8" tubing is not connected the way the instructions intended because I only used about 3" of the 12-15" long piece that came with the kit.

I don't have a picture of what you're saying in mind but I can say that we had to cut some tubing that came with the intake as it was too long for the intended application.
