Tranny oil

Need to change my ATF transmission oil, should I go oem or there are better alternatives that is compatible with the TL. Also, thinking doing a 3x3 flush, is it recommended to our tranny? ( thought I read some article saying our TL transmission is not recommended for doing 3x3 flush).

It's your car so it's your choice. I would highly recommend using Honda or Acura ATF (same thing). Their most recent formulation is a synthetic oil at about $10 a quart. Never put any additives or magic products in your AT.

Yes, I believe that's the latest formula.
There are lots of posts on this topic and some youtube videos.
If your AT is shifting properly and the ATF looks reasonable (not black or brown or Paula Creamer strawberry milkshake pink) then all I would do is change what you can change with a simple drain and refill.
You can only change about half the volume this way so you end up with "new" oil that is still half as dirty as when you started. ( The TC does not drain.) But this is very good oil (atf) so MHO, if you do this regularly you will have a pretty good quality ongoing. If you go the route of draining and filling repeatedly you get half the dirty oil out each time so even then you never really get a 100% exchange. Some guys are more fussy about this but since the oil (atf) is recommended for 100,000 km, I don't go overboard myself.

My A3 service popped up last week. Included engine oil and tranny oil (56,000 miles). Just as easy as an oil change. I just drained both of them at the same time. Just go to Honda and buy 4 quarts of ATF...acura might charge a dollar or two more. Don't go messing with what the car wants. Carrie posted about using a lower grade fuel for a day and the fuel pump went on her immediately. I dont want to find out what would happen to a tranny. Download my Service Manual if you need a step by step

So dw1 only comes in synthetic? I read somewhere on the interest saying that dw1 in use is not synthetic whereas in canada is synthetic. Kinda confused.

How about local Honda/Acura dealerships or those AZ authorized Honda/Acura parts stores that have frequent advertizing links showing up in AZ pages ?

No need to worry about shady sources that may send you bad stuff and screw up your car.

Only needed 3L to get the job done, but got one extra to play it safe.

According to our owner manual 3.3 quarts is required for a drain and refill.

And don't forget the filter (if 2012+). Yes there is a filter. It's just off to the left and below the battery (looking at engine with hood open) . PN: 25430-PLR-003; located on OEM parts TRANSMISSION - AUTOMATIC/AT OIL LEVEL GAUGE - ATF PIPE page. You can purchase from our AZ sponsor. Best OEM discount I could find (30%). http://www.acurapartsforless.com/par...e-atf-pipe-6at

It's a common Honda part but new to the TL (2012+)

3.3 U.S. quarts = 3122 mL = 3.1 L
