Cold air intake

I did a quick search on this forum but couldn't find anything so excuse me if this is a double post.

Has anyone installed a CAI in their car yet? Do AEM or Injen make one?

I have an AEM CAI in my Accord and the mileage greatly improved along with acceleration and noise (when I want it)...

If they have one I may wait until after warranty runs out to install but would be interested in some pics or opinions...

There is only the Takeda short ram intake, which does wonders for the 4G...

I believe AEM is in the R&D stages of making a CAI

What improvements or changes can be had by installing the takeda intake on the TL. Why is it worth the investment? Does it affect the warranty?

Improvements are, it adds excitement to your driving experience because of the sound it makes at WOT. It probably adds a little bit of performance on the top end. I get a little better mileage since I have installed the intake. It looks cool. My Acura dealer said it will not affect my warranty and it should not affect yours unless you install it wrong and it causes some other problem. This would have to be proved. So with the facts stated YOU will have to decide if the investment is worth it to you. I can tell you this, I love to see other drivers jaws drop with my sedate looking 4G opens up on the road and they hear that intake

The Takeda intakes are beautiful, clean, and go very well with the 4G TLs.

AEM and Injen both are in the works of developing intakes for the 4G. However, if you want a short ram, go with Takeda, you won't be disappointed. Power wise, the truth is a homemade $20 intake will perform the same as your $300 CAI/SRI. But a brand name is always important and who the hell would put in a homemade intake in their TL?! lol

Warranty, on the other hand, really depends on your dealer/SM. I just stated in another thread on the RSX section, that one dealer may be strict, when another dealer can be very lenient.

I don't see an intake causing ANY problems for your TL, nor do I see any 4G TLs needing service. However, when the need rises, I would simply throw my stock intake back on if you had any issues with your engine, then take her back to the dealer. Another benefit/advantage of a short ram intake.

Regards,
AJ
