Any NAV-Traffic or Weather deals?
Has anyone had any success in negotiating a NAV/Traffic and Weather deal?
After some strong negotiations on my part I was able to get them down to $63.51 (total with Royalty fees and all taxes) 12-mo renewal deal on the XM-Everything entertainment package today but the gal I spoke to in customer retention either could not or would not offer me the Traffic or Weather - she in fact said that would require taking a "standard subscription" at the full price for the entertainment package plus $3.99 per month for Traffic & another $3.99/mo for weather. I'm not really interested in the weather, but I live & work in Houston where having the traffic package would be awfully nice.
However, the way it seems to work is the std. pricing for the XM Everything entertainment bundle ($142.45 annual) + another $47.88 for Traffic (annual) so for $190 + tax they'd give me what I'm wanting except for an amount that's 90 bucks a year more than I'm willing to pay. I'd gladly take the traffic @ $47.88 annual (3.99 monthly) if they'd either bill it separately or combine it with the "ZWINBACK" promotion.
As follow-up, I just made a call to the NAV Traffic/Weather subscription number (800-347-0600) and the information I got earlier seems to be correct. They will not give you the traffic or weather package with any "discounted" audio package, ergo it's either full price or nothing at all.
Has anyone been able to do any better on the Traffic/Weather service?
Thanks!

Just renewed mine, this will be the 3rd year for me, and i only payed $63.51 including tax and royalty fees.
The key is to call before your subscription expires (i did it 30 days before it expired) and tell them that you do not wish to be auto renewed. They will tranfer you to another rep which will more than likely be at your mercy. Act like you like the service but its too expensive, they will then make you some type of offer to stay with them.
I took the second offer the guy gave me at $63.51 for 12 months.

Can't Add NavWeather?
Hey Cap'n Preshoot.
Same problem here. I transferred my XM account from another vehicle to my 2012 TL after the trial expired. I had the $70 deal on other other vehicle. All good right? No. I then asked to add NAvWeather to my raio and no way would they even touch it. All I could get was a $40 credit against a full price new 1 year subscription. I wouldn't do it. I'll go without until my subscription expires and then negotiate all over again.
I also would like to know if anyone has been able to either get NavWeather added to an existing account or at least a decent price on a 1 year XM with NavWeather subscription.
Thanks

Soooo easy! Had XM before, called in and said I got the coupon in the mail, no questions asked and done. Best thing was that I had a $52 credit on my account so I only paid like $30 for the entire next year. Guess they were just gonna keep that $52, good thing I called.

I got mine for $77, I opted for them to send me a bill for an extra $2, I mean they kind've have you if they just renew every year.
I like to actually review what I'm signing up for....

My subscription ended two weeks ago. I called and read the script and got the offer for $77. I tried to negotiate away the royalty fees, but they refused, they said they used to waive them, but they no longer can. It may have been just a line. I figured it was a good enough deal anyway. I asked about the traffic and not the weather and they said the traffic was an additional $60 a year. seamed to steep, so I didn't get it. To those of you who have it, am I really missing out?

Purchased my '06 TL in October 2011 and it came with a 3 months trial of XM. I got a call from XM last week asking if I liked the service and they offered me a special of $12.95/mo to continue on for a year. I could tell it was a newer rep reading off of a script. I explained how I loved the service but was aware of a $77 special rate and in fact our XM subscription on our '06 Pilot was purchased using that offer. I said that I'd love to sign up but I would need to have the same pricing. She placed me on hold and said a manager agreed to extend the pricing for the TL and add it to when my trail ended. Had to pay royalties and taxes, but it was still just under $100, which I'm fine with.

Sirius/XM ripped me off!!
I got screwed big time... I'd been doing the $77 deal for several years, setting a reminder for myself to call and cancel/renew each December 1st. Did it last year and thought I had gotten the $77 (+ fees) deal, but I guess I should have been more watchful of our credit card statements, which my wife usually handles. When I called today they immediately offered to renew me at the same rate; I said fine. Then the lady said she could do even better thatn the "$43 I was paying quarterly", and instead give me 6 months for $43. I said whoa, WTF do you mean $43 per quarter?? I had been paying $86 per year, and I paid it all up front, or so I thought. Apparently the mother****ers decided, 2 weeks after I had renewed last year, that they couldn't offer me the same deal twice so they just switched me to full price, billed quarterly, and they sent me absolutely no notification that they were doing it!
I'm pissed at myself, of course, because I should've caught it in the CC statements, but what the hell?? I yelled at the lady for a bit and canceled my subscription flat out. It's probably not worth trying to go after the $86 they stole, because I should have caught it right away... won't make that mistake again!
In any case, I'm putting it out here to warn all of you about this bullshit that Sirius/XM is pulling. Buyer beware!!!

I just got an adjusted bill from XM. The first bill/payment was $88.41 after taxes and royalty fees on the $77 offer, the new one says my total is $201.72 for the year. I called and was told it was due to state taxes, I argued that state taxes cannot make up a $110+ difference. They offered $17 off and said $200 is now they’re going rate for a 1 year subscription, and they had to change my rate to this because I had XM several years ago. I called back and asked to cancel and that I want a full refund on the service since I was lied to and charged again later. A manager is supposed to review and get back to me.

I signed up on Oct 29, and on Nov 29th is when they hiked the price, one month after signing up. They also auto charged me the difference. I had to call again, never got a call back. This time they agreed to give me a credit redusing the annual rate to $137.62. They said its the best they can do, and that its too late to cancel for a full refund, because I committed to a 1 year contract.

Also according to some of the complaints on that site, some people who tried to cancel over the phone and in writing were still auto-renewed and refused a refund. I did ask for them to send me confirmation of my cancellation but the service rep claimed they were not allowed to send me anything, and she could only give me a reference number.
I will be calling again today to make damn sure they have me setup to NOT auto-renew, and of course I'll be checking my credit card bill very carefully each month.
Assholes...

I got my $77 deal. But they told me I had a $112 credit in an old account so it didnt cost me anything!!! I had no clue it was there so it was a nice surprise. She actually credited my remaining balalance on the previous car so it will cover 2 years @ $77.

Bingo again! Thrid time and this time was the best. Guess it depends on which CSR you get and whether he/she was having a good day. I had a nice chat with the one I got about family, the holidays, the economy, etc. To be honest, it was a very enjoyable conversation. Very nice CSR. Bottom line she offered me the $77 with no royalty. I didn't even ask for no royalty! Invoice coming my way...happy happy!

Just renewed XM Select, XM NavTraffic + XM NavWeather for $160.32
The renewal bill was for $236.83 (regular price). When I called, one agent said she was authorized for a maximum discount of $75. I called again and got another agent authorized for a maximum discount of $50. Eventually, I got the second agent down to the $75 discount and paid the $160.32.

I got 1 month free trial. I told csr I just bought a used Acura tl and it had an xm button and I would like to activate it. After she ran through pricing and everything I said whoa!!! That's to much. I'm willing to try for 1 month for 12.99 to see if I like it. She went to go talk with her supervisor and said they can let me try it out for free for 1 month.

Folks
I have two TLs. My XM runs out on the 05 next month, and i am cancelling that one. i just bought a 2012, Acura Certified, and the XM is not active on it. My goal is to get the new one set up with XM and NavTraffic at a deep discount, but i don't see where anyone has had any luck with that. It seems like you can get a discount on the basic XM radio package, but not if you want the Traffic updates, which kind of sucks since i can get those on my cell phone for free, though much less conveniently. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Still valid?
This XM thread(s) seem to go on endlessly for a year or so. My 3 month free service on my 2012 TL will be up in late January, 2012. My understanding is that there are different components to the service--the radio portion, traffic and navigation, and weather? I was under the impression that navigation was standalone and had nothing to do with the XM but I guess I could be mistaken.
So is the advice here that dates back to 2010 still valid in terms of being able to negotiate a better deal for the XM?

My father let the subscription run out about 2 years ago on his TL. Called today, told them I knew the $77 deal was out there. No questions asked, after all said and done, paid $85 with fees and taxes. Not a bad deal at all. Merry Christmas, Dad!

I wonder if I should be proactive and start calling now under the premise that I am investigating my options once the 3-month complimentary period ends in late January. Since we are not in the car for long periods of time (wife goes to work 4 miles and home from work 4 miles each day and then we use the car more on weekends) I did not think we would care one way or another about the XM. However, we have both really gotten hooked on it and would miss it.
I still don't understand if the navigation system is an independent thing that can work without XM but I really do want to retain the XM anyway.

The navigation system does not require XM to function. However, when the XM with weather is active, the nav system will alert you if bad weather is on your route. So there is some benefit to the nav with XM. Do you need it for the nav to work? No. The same applies to Nav Traffic, but your Nav with work without it.

I hate SiriusXM!!! I first had XM in my '04 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP starting in July of '03 and was a happy camper until SiriusXM lost my account in November of 2010 when I tried to renew my then current 3-year sub. They say the account never existed. In the process I lost over $100 by my reckoning from my previous 3-year sub after they had to give me a new account number. When I tried to simply transfer my sub from my '10 MDX to the ZDX in November they have screwed me again and I am now on a free 3-month trial subscription and I have a credit balance for my 3-year sub. I've been on the phone for hours talking to many idiots, the majority of which do not speak American English. I just wrote to corporate SiriusXM in NYC and I'm hoping to hear from then soon. If they do not get this straightened out to my satisfaction soon I am done with SiriusXM once and for all.

Just a quick question since I have gotten my renewal notice. When you called did you have to go through a whole rigamarole to get the deal or did you just ask for what is the best you can get and they offered $77?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I called and explained that my subscription had expired nearly three years ago. The girl told me that since it had been such a long time period that she would have to set me up as a brand new customer...she then went over all of the packages and I stated that I just wanted the "select" package for $77 and that I had received a card stating that price. She said fine... the total was $85.32 via invoice which includes the extra $2 for having to mail an invoice. The time on the phone with her was about 10 minutes. I was on hold initially for about 25 minutes before getting a live person.
I tried to negotiate the royalty fees but had no luck. All in all I think I made out pretty well compared to what I've read on some other sites. Best of luck and Happy New Year!

On Friday I called because my subscription ends on the 7th. After asking what the current price was ($159 and change), I told her I couldn't justify the price any longer. She then offered the $85 price, and I said no thanks. She finally offered 6 months for $42 and change, and I declined. Point is ... the $85 price can be had without issue by just declining the initial $159 offer. As I won't be in the car 2 hours day/ever day, I no longer see the point in renewing. Besides ... by hearing the same songs every other day (and sometimes twice on the same day), I don't think I'll be missing anything important.

^I agree.
I called the other day to downgrade from XM "Everything" to the "Mostly Music" package. I couldn't justify paying even the special $77/year price, let alone $160, as I only listen to music. So I did 3 months of Mostly Music for $27. Didnt wanna do it by the year as I'll be driving something else before then.

worked for me. $77 plus $8 royalty fee. I'd bet that the "royalty fee" is a bs, but you choose your battles... $85/year is reasonable, and much better than the $155 invoice they sent me.
