Called to cancel, was offered $175 from a call center OBVIOUSLY not in the US - told the lady, no thanks, that's too much. She said she had to transfer the call to complete the cancellation, which I said was fine. Transferred to a US call center, where I was asked why I wanted to cancel - told the guy it was just too high of a price to pay, and he immediately offered me $95 for a year. Kept stating it was still a little high, and my S.O. just renewed for $85. He wouldn't budge on the price, so I accepted. All together it's $104 for the year, which is $8.69 a month. That's not terrible. I'm ok with paying that. Guy also credited my account for the past due balance ( I was ignoring the fact I had to renew ) and didn't charge to mail me a statement (how nice of him). Apparently requesting to pay via a statement and not a credit card costs $2. Really?

Anyway, there's my experience w/ XM. Guy kept saying I wouldn't be eligible for any more promo rates after this year... uh huh, ok.

Holy !@##. I called to find out if I can get the same deal. Got it down to $85/yr and when I gave her my radio ID to activate, she came back saying I got a 24 months promo free. After swapping info, my Sat radio was activated without having to give my CC#.

Just got around to doing this today. $86 for the year, which i can live with. I wonder if adding another radio would get the same deal or less.

Damn i love this site......

did you have to pay $86 up front to get this price or do they charge you monthly ($7.17/month)?

Foobar. Beware Sirius XM.

I let my account get cancelled as per the regular discussion here. I've been getting bills for $243 a few times. Today I tried to call and get things straight.

I told the first rep that the cost was just too high and that I wanted the account to just stay cancelled. BTW, my account somehow no longer had the radio code attached to it.

The second call was a surprise. I told them the cost was just too high and wanted to let it cancel. She tells me that since the service lapsed in May but the service continued, I still owed $74.46 for pro-rated service. I asked to get more details about this bs.

Third person said yes: you still used the service after the renewal on May 11. I said I didn't renew on May 11, why should I pay: I'm just calling to tell you it's too expensive and to have your computer stop calling me. She says no: you still owe and we just sent you a new bill for $74.46. I finally gave up and told her this was a terrible way to do business and said goodbye.

Why is it that they let the service roll on? Geez, Comcast would shut you down and not ask for more money. The shutoff is definitely not my job!

Not sure if I'll pay it or not. I'm sure that will get sirius to call a collector. Neat. This sucks.

OK, so just wanted to post an unfortunately bad experience. Good luck to the rest of you. I'll probably call these freaks back next week to "discuss" my new bill.

EDIT: Of course, I just read the fine print on my bright yellow bill from last month:

P.S. Please note that yopur subscription has already been renewed but payment was not received. Your service is still active and a balance will continue to accrue on your account reflecting each day of used service until our system deactivates your radio or you call to cancel.

OK, busted. Maybe there is a sweet spot for making the call. At any rate, I'll call when I get the new bill in hand and see what they can do. Weird.

Customer services does not appear to be one of their strong suits. Our friends have had Sirius XM in one of their cars for a few years now and also pay $3.50 a month extra for an in-house Sirius radio. My friend always charges for 2 years at a time (at least) and always uses the charge card tied to his business. His wife called for some reason and somehow her card also got charged. She has been trying for at least 3 or 4 calls now to get the charge removed from her card and keeps getting dummy customer service people on the phone. At about the same time they wanted to charge her an extra $2.00 per month for monthly billing on her home XM (so $3.50 a month would go to $5.50 a month). She had always paid this in advance to eliminate the $2.00 per month fee. Again, she got nothing but grief trying to deal with the person at the other end of the line.

There seems to be an arrogance and indifference at Sirius XM that (hopefully) will do them in as other options such as Pandora, Slacker, in-car Ipod connections become more prevalent.

Well stated. Since Sirius XM controls (afaik) all satellite radio broadcasts, they may feel as if they can do what they want. I know 11 state attorneys general had some pointed questions for the FCC in regards to preserving competition for the sake of protecting consumers back in 2008 when they merged. Doesn't look like we got too far, eh?

Beware of lies! Get everything in writing!

In February I spoke with retentions and received the $77/year deal or so I thought.

Lo and behold I receive an invoice at the end of July for another 6 months. Apparently the retention specialist either lied and renewed me at 6 months for $100 (with tax, traffic, etc.) or maybe did not properly notate the account and update the billing info.

So now I am on hold dealing with one of the idiots that work in the ICC.

My advice: if you get the deal be sure to get an email in writing and request an updated invoice showing that you have paid for a full year. Otherwise XM may try to shaft you later. I will update this post when I get off hold.

The CSR agreed to fix my expiration date but still would not send a confirm email or revised invoice though I did receive an incident ID. She told me to go online where I could verify the account info.

So again my advice - be sure to get some kind of proof to confirm your $77 "deal" so that XM doesn't later claim that you were paying for a shorter period.

This is one of those companies that gives Capitalism a bad rap. Because of their virtual monopoly of the market they basically say screw you to the consumer.

i am on my 10th year of renewal, and what used to be 77 bucks period is now 80 + 15 + some state taxes which all add up to around 100 bucks....i suspect this is due to all of us getting it for 77 bucks all these years....

BEWARE, they will give you a negative hit on your credit report if you dont stay on top of it....

Got my TL back last November. Had an SiriusXM account previously, which was just ending, so I stayed with the lesser tier programming but for free for the 3 months after car purchase. When that was over, I called and asked if there were any promotions going on for "old" customers. Got a very good deal for 6 months for me and my wifes TSX, and internet/iPhone access. I have to call back next month to "cancel" again because that promo is up. FWIW, I haven't paid anything near full price since I joined XM back in '07. They ALWAYS discount me when I call to cancel. But, just the other day, I noticed that the weather was back in my car, but still no traffic. Anyone know if this is a free feature now?

Just had my 6th renewal; 2012 TL/SH/AWD/Tech/Graphite Luster
After half hour of haggling with a supervisor, got XM/Nav./Traffiic, for $122/1 year
$10+, a month for all 3 is legit, & fair. Be vigilant, & stand your ground; they'll cave, 'cause they want to continue your business.
Good luck!

40 minute battle on the phone...had XM Premier (Best of Sirius) for 110 last year....renewed for the same deal for 114 in August, then I goto pay and I got screwed by the CSR who gave me the XM Select package. Called today, was very calm and nice, but adamant I was not going to pay it. Got transferred to a "specialist" (retention) and they offered XM Select for 220, then 190, then 145, then 124...I said I was not going to pay $14 more for the same service as the year before. She then was able to extend a "only 1 time courtesy" to do it for the previously agreed to 114 (including all taxes and fees).

I am happy to have the package for 114, but I am tired of the battle each year with a company that just provides radio

My first year subscription that cost me $85 was going to end tomorrow and I was going to be charged for around $160 as a auto renewal. No way in hell I was going to pay that much. So I called and said I like it but it's too expensive. The lady offerd to renew it for $94 after taxes and fees so I took it.

My three month trial expired today, so I called in this morning to cancel. They tried to refer me over to the cancellation department, but I was on hold for too long, and eventually disconnected when I drove into my parkade.

Called them back this afternoon, and noticed while I was on hold that, according to the website, my subscription was now extended to December. When I got through to a rep, he confirmed that they extended it for 3 months, and charged my card $56. He told me that I'd get it credited back to my card, and when I explained that I wasn't prepared to pay their rates, he gave me 6 months @ $5.96 per month...works out to $75 with tax for a year (he confirmed I can renew at that rate after 6 months).

Didn't use the script...I've never been certain if it would work in Canada, as they could call BS and say there were no flyers sent out up here.

Just called an told them I got an offer in the mail for an old radio for 6 months for $25. They got me started and that was that. Before hanging up, they offered me what they felt was a more lucrative deal of 1 year for $99. Needless to say, I stuck with my original deal and now all is well (once I get XM antenna replaced).

I have received one email and 3 letters offering me their 6 month/$25 deal on my Vette. Am currently doing the same deal on the TL after I let the last $77 subscription expire in January.

If you are a customer ... just cancel before the subscription runs out and wait a month or so ... you're bound to get the same offers.

I'm getting nauseous thinking about this again. When I bought the car last October it came with the 3-month trial. When I called near the expiration I got the $86 per year (which actually came out to $96.43) and was really pissed at losing the navtraffic.

I guess the new renewal will be coming up soon and it is really disgusting the stupid hoops you need to go through with this company. I really hope the advent of competing markets like Pandora along with the use of Ipods, SmartPhones, etc. eventually renders this service irrelevant.

Couldnit agree with you more. I've been dealing with XM since the days of my 04 TL and go through the same feelings every year. With the new technology coming out they will have to modify their marketing strategy/pricing structure or lose significant business if not go bankrupt.

I let my 3 month trial expire.
Got a letter 2 days ago that wants me to renew radio only for $88 a year. Thinking about it, but this just seems a big hassle. I really don't travel that much and could always use my Pandora on my phone.

As a technology idiot, I have been too lazy to explore what I can do with my SmartPhone in terms of linking with the TL's audio system. Since I get Pandora on the phone I assume there is some (easy?) way of playing it through the car's audio system--yes?

Hit the HDD button until it shows bluetooth. Then I think it will work if the bluetooth is connected. At least it does with my iphone. Downloaded one of those text-to-speech free apps from the apple store and now I can "hear" my e-mails on the way to work via bluetooth. Not that I want to hear stupid co-worker's e-mails LOL... but what the heck its a novelty.

I'm in Canada but signed up for a 2 month USA Sirius XM account for my 2008 Acura TL Type S. The trial recently expired so I called them this evening and said I saw a flyer with a 50% off promo. The rep checked with her supervisor and said no problem!

Thanks guys.

Yeah, that sucks. But you won't like what I'm about to tell you....we bought an 04 TL in 05. You know how you get the first 3 months free? Well, that three months extended into over 6 yrs. They just turned it off! I called and found out that it had been on "dealer promo" for the whole 6 yrs.

Does anyone know whether if you buy a '10 CPO are you supposed to get XMradio/traffic/weather for a 3 months promo like with a new car? Thanks

Based on my own experience with a 2010 Dodge Ram, yes. All you do is call up Sirius-XM and tell them that you just purchased the vehicle and that the dealer told you the deal included 3-month's complimentary XM. Them may ask for the VIN number and they will definitely need the radio ID # (get it by tuning to XM channel 1 or zero). Worked for me, it should work for you.

Music only. To my knowledge there are no "deals" available for traffic or weather nor will they combind a discounted music plan with traffic & weather. Last time I checked the only way to get traffic & weather was to pay full freight for the entire bundle. Pretty expensive if you ask me.
