rockstar, were you just out of your regular renewal period? I just got my $245 renewal letter as well and wondering when I should call.

Thanks!

I highly suggest you go back and read the fine print about this promotion. Sentence #2:

"Offer good on any inactive radio on your account and comes with free activation (a $15 value). "

I was emailed a survey about my experience...I was very honest, and hopefully it ends up in the right hands...

Signed up yesterday for $7.99 a month Canadian for 6 months.

I thought it was a good deal. My free trial is running out in June.

Called 866-408-5996 on a Friday 5:15PM central time. Very quick pickup, polite and I would guess a US call center. She transferred me over to retention where an eqaully polite fellow took care of my renewal. $86 + music royalties came out to $94 and some change. Not as good as last years $85 total (which I couldn't get them down to), but a painless easy transaction.

New $85/year deal

My 3-month ended a couple weeks ago. I recently received another mail promo from XM: $85 for 1 year of XM Select, with no activation fee (but it didn't say anything about royalties or taxes). I haven't called yet. I'm wondering if anyone's managed to score any good annual subscription deals for XM Premier, or the Nav Traffic/Weather services? The XM website is advertising the Nav Traffic/Weather for $7.00/month for both services. Nothing on there about a 1 year deal though.

Just called XM and told them I want to renew my current "12mo - Half Off - Promo"

Was put on hold for a few minutes then they came back and said "no problem".

What did you end up paying? I had to renew my subscription last weekend. Apparently they're not sending the zero code to people's radio's and what will happen is your account will reflect the full subscription price. I got a couple of phone calls and a letter stating that I had $179 balance. When I called, I told them I didn't know when exactly my service was scheduled for renewal but I defintely wasn't paying $179. I told them I got a letter and read the script from the first page of this thread. They asked me to validate the letter and I said I didn't have it on me but it arrived in the beginning of the month. They said they don't know why I got this letter stating this and that it was a half off promo that has now gone up to $86. I fought with about 3 people and they all told me the same thing. So I took the $86 deal. He said he was going to clear out the pro-rated amount and start with a $0 balance. He tried hard to get my credit card info but I said no...just send the invoice. I also asked to have the auto-renew taken off my account. I've only seen a few folks, here, renew for the $77 amount. I'm seeing alot of people paying the $86. It's still not consistent with SiriusXM but I'll take half off any day.

$93.96 for the year (including the Royalty Fee's). That's up only about $8 from last years price.

Yeah that sounds like the same deal I, and many of us, are getting. So maybe when people call up to renew they should just say the flier is for the half off of a one year sub.

Thanks I bought a used 07 TL Type-S and the XM radio is still playing. Not sure when it will end.

Make sure you dont leave them your checking or visa account numbers. Last time I got 5 months for $20, I told them to NOT automatlcally charge me reg fees after the 5 months. They DID They were taking $42 out of my checking every 3 months Pissed me off. Next time I will find out how much and go to my Bank and purchase a Visa card with the exact amount. No way to charge me reg rates.

After me adding HD radio and my ipod that has over 120gig with this gadget
http://isimplesolutions.com/vehicle-specific-kits.aspx
I can't see me ever going back to XM in less the price goes way down and or the sound quality gets better when compared to what I have now. XM keeps calling me and sending me bills anyone know how to get XM to stop. I have jumped threw every loop to ask them to give up on me and they haven't given up....yet months later. I canceled my credit card XM had on file so xm wouldn't be able to auto renew.

If you owe them money based on the contract, and you don't pay your credit could get dinged.

Xm at least for me, is just too convenient. For the 189 dollars, an xm subscription with traffic and weather is the way to go.

When I join XM I make it clear I do not want auto renew and make sure by calling xm back to verfy it's in my XM notes in their computers Every year I make sure my credit card is changed to stop auto renew and every year xm tries to get me to pay them...in past years I took the $77 offer after months of xm saying I owe them money and me saying I did/do not want xm and all issues of me owing money went away and my year contract stated the day I paid. This year I have been telling xm I do not want xm and asked them to check my past notes saying so. Odd lol xm now says they have no notes I didn't want auto renew and it's standard policy to auto renew. Each and every time they call me I say I didn't/do not want auto renew and I do not want XM any more and it (WAS) in my notes that I didn't want it and XM promised me it would not auto renew. XM says they will cancel my bill and days weeks later they call send me another bill.

$86.00 Month

Renewed about 3 weeks ago. This makes year 3... $86.00 per radio total charge for 3 radios $86 x 3 = $258, plus my TL has WX and Traffic, that was $72.00 for the year...

Total for 3 radios plus WX TF on one radio was $330.00 So my TL, my wifes TSX and my Pioneer portable are all set!!

Remember you need to get to the Account Cancelation to do this. In my case my credit card got lost so the card on record for auto renew would not have worked, so I discovered another way to stop auto billing..

Three month trial subscription was about the expire and I called 866-635-5020 and explained to them I was interested in subscribing but the mailer I received listed the one year price at $159.39 which I thought was a bit too expensive considering I only listen to a few channels. I asked if there were any promotions and he said no and then I explained to him a friend of mine recently renewed his subscription for around $87... he placed me on hold and said he would be able to give me the yearly rate at 50% off it ended up coming out to $101 for one year.

I just checked my bank statement to see that my subscription auto-renewed for $183!!! I called the number and told the guy that I wanted to cancel because that was just too much money. Without hesitation he offered me a year for $86, so I took it!

I not 100% sure but once they charge your account you do not get it credited it back to your bank account. They keep it on your xm acct. Next year when you go to renew it will show up as a credit balance.

I've scanned this thread to see if I can determine what sort of experience Canadians have had...best I can tell is one user getting $7.99 a month. I'm guessing that "the script" doesn't work up north, but can anyone confirm? Seems a shame, given that the XM experience is much more limited up here (no nav except a couple of cities, no weather). Any feedback is appreciated, as my XM has just run out, and at regular price, I really don't see it as being worthwhile.

I think if you call and try and cancel specifically, you'd likely get it for the $86 plus taxes. They figure they ask a certain amount of money that some people will be willing to pay, but are willing to provide the service for about half that.

Canada or not, I'm certain the call center that takes the car or outsources it, are all the same.

That won't work, as the XM ran out a few days ago, so I've got nothing to cancel. I bought the car used about 6 months ago, so just like after a first date, if I call them now, they'll know I'm potentially "into them".

Forget that last post of mine...it occurs to me that XM has a promotion for new owners of used cars, so I should be able to get a 3 month trial, and then "cancel" at the end of that.

Just renewed XMSelect for 1 year at $86 and NavTrafficWeather for $77 for1 year. When I check my account on line, it shows XMSelect expiring in 1 year, but NavTrafficWeather with a 1 year trial, then 1 year purchased, with expiration 2 years from now. I'll keep checking in the coming days, but it looks like I may have benefited from an agent mistake giving me 2 years of NavTrafficWeather for the price of 1. I verified the charges on my credit card online, so, so far, everything looks good!

You did well. I just renewed, using the script, for 86 plus 84 for traffic/weather. They initially wanted $254 for this package.

I'm into my 8th year with this deal, but it keeps going up. I always mark my calendar with the renewal date. About a week earlier than my official renewal time, I got an e-mail because they couldn't process my CC (the card had been replaced). Just basic XM, no traffic and they wanted $186. I told them it's too much and I'm cancelling. They transferred me to someone else (as expected), but the best they'd do was $109/year which is inclusive of all fees & taxes. Fine. Whatever. I still can't stand listening to stupid commercials on commercial-free radio.

This may have been posted already but does anyone know if it is possible to activate traffic and weather but a short time like 1 month ?. I tried and they said I could only do a year, pay for the whole year, then cancel and get a refund. Sounded like a stupid way to do business, so I declined.

Again, I only want to use it for 1 month, pay for 1 month, and be done. Don't want no refund, or anything else.

Thanks.

My 3 month trial will end next week, so I went ahead and called 877-218-2747 this afternoon (Friday) around 5 PM Eastern. I told them my car dealer told me I could get 6 months for $25. It took about 10 minutes to set it all up, and I added NavTraffic for $3.99 a month. No questions asked, no code requested, no need to go through to cancellation before they honored the deal.

Xm sent me a renewal notice for $110 for six months. Called to cancel and was steered to retention dept (knew I would be). Offered me 1 year for $115 which I was able to negotiate down to $100. You must hold your ground and be willing to cancel to get the best rate.

Just renewed yesterday for my second year after getting last year for $97. After giving me initially a price somewhere above $150 and me refusing, they offered $86 plus taxes and royalties which came to just over $107. Fair enough price I figure so I renewed.

I called to turn of auto renewal, but it was pretty much to cancel as my subscription was up July 02 anyway. They renewed me at 94 plus tax, plus i added online +, which i really like. I was going to just keep online +, but they wouldn;t give me a deal if i just kept online +, since i was downgrading anyway. Total was 146 including tax with online +, im happy.

Just to keep the thread rolling
I just called to speak with XM regarding my "new rate" of $164 per year. I asked to cancel because the cost was too high.

She put me on hold and came back with the offer of half off, $86 plus $8.43 in music royalty fees, total of $94.43 per year.

Thanks Acurazine!

I have been getting my XM for $25/6 months. I got a gift card that paid for 6 months, at the end I told them I couldn't afford the full price and they renewed for $25! Better some cheap subscribers than no subscribers...

Just renewed for the 8th year in a row at $76.97. Not $86, not $94. Technically it was $78.60, since they started my one year renewal a week early (so there was a prorated credit of $1.63 they didn't give me).

I basically told them that I listen to one channel and was on the verge of cancelling last year. The only reason I renewed was that I was asked to stay as a customer. This year, I told them I actually don't listen to anything anymore (I listen to that one channel far less now) as I'm too busy.
