Hey guys, my first post here. I haven't seen any threads that address my questions so I figured I'd start one. I have the '12 TL base model. I'd like to upgrade all the speakers, preferably component up front, and adding a 10" box in the trunk. My questions are, what are my REAL speaker sizes, cause I've seen a lot if conflicting info. Also, is it a good idea to remove the rear deck sub all together to act as a port? I'm staying with the stock head unit and would like to keep the stock speaker grills on after the new speakers are in. Also, is it worth installing the center dash speaker? My main question though is what are the factory base model speaker sizes throughout the whole vehicle? Thanks for your help guys, just bought the car last week, first Acura, and LOVING IT.

Am I gonna be able to use 3.5" speakers where the 3" stocks go? I can't find aftermarket 3" speakers.

The 3" speaker is for front center. The speakers on the door panel are actually 6.5". People usually replace the 6.5" speakers and that will improve over our OEM.
Why do you want to replace the front center speaker instead of ones in the door panels????
Anyway, if you want to go with 3.5" front center speaker, you will do a little modification to make it fit and the OEM Amp is located behind the trim on the passenger side of the trunk.

That would be retarded... I don't wanna just replace the 3" center... I wanna replace EVERY THING. I'm gonna go with components for the front 6.5" & tweeter, replacing the 6.5" speakers in the back, I'm removing the 8" rear panel sub all together which will/should act as a port for the 10" box I'm putting in the back. My ultimate goal would be to get a powerful enough 5 channel amp to power everything and put it where the stock amp is now, but if I have to, I'll put a 4 channel where the stock one is for the speakers, and just out a mono amp on the box. I'd like to keep all factory grills and everything and keep it stock looking as much as possible. Keeping stock radio too. I think it'll sound great, I may just remove the center 3" all together if it causes an issue for me. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks guys.

Also, CoolDude01, I couldn't find the JBL modification thread, could you provide a link?

Dude, you really know how to ask for help. I'm suggesting replace the 6.5 speakers first and you called that retarded???? Besides, you replace all the components and upgrade amp but still keep the HU??? Why replace all of them for???
Some of our members in here just replace the 6.5" speakers and that give them more than adequate sound because of acura speakers are made out of paper. This came back to the reason i suggested change them out in the first place.

Also, I would replace the head unit but from what I've seen they don't make a dash kit for my car.

LOL that really pissed me off man but it's all good now.
Anyway, this is the link that one of the members in here had the problem with cheap made OEM speakers.

JBL and Infiniti Kappa speakers got really reviews and recommendation. If you want to replace the Head Unit, it will cost you a lot of money and I mean a lot of money because you will need to remove the whole dash, cut it then modify it to make it work. It can be done at a really high cost. One of the member in here had it done before and cost was up to almost 2k. Try to replace the 6.5" speakers first then decide what you want to do next. Good luck.
