Navi Hack

Hi new member here. I know this has been covered probably thousands of times and, based on my past forum experience, some forum trolls will be upset because I didn't just read through them. But, some have been up so long that the waters are muddied. So I apologize in advance. Here are my questions:

Is hacking the nag screen safe? Does it have side effects? If I screw it up, is it a costly repair and is it even possible to screw up for that matter?

Thanks for your time.

what kind of "hacking" are you considering? changing the firmware, adding functionality (such as VGA video input), etc...if you're more specific, we may be able to help

thanks!

I'd just like to get rid of the "nag" screen right after start-up.

Ahh, that's built in as a CYA for Acura, i've seen a lot of people complain about it.

unfortunately I don't have any expertise in that, sorry

Sadly there hasn't been anything to my knowledge on the 2009+ TLs and being able to hack the Nav System Software in any way, not even copying the updates discs either (no one seems to interested in trying to figure it out either).

The only thing available is the NAVTool which is nothing more than adding inputs and utilizing the screen for external sources (RCA/HDMI/Apple Port, etc).

Nothing else. Shame since your kind of stuck with the system and all its proprietary-ness. It would require a massive major custom project to redo it that most would not partake in.

I'll never understand why people have a problem pushing the button to advance past that screen. I mean, you push a button to start the car...what's one more? It's 1-2 seconds of your life.

I find it annoying but not to the point I want to get rid of it. I don't think I would mess with the electronics for such a small inconvience. I actually keep mine on the audio screen so there are two buttons to push, but no big deal.

Hmmm you're saying I could have an HDMI input for the video display??? aka plug in a laptop or phone to have it display on the nav screen??? THAT would be pretty cool for video!

It's really not about the time and it's typically not just one push. If it kicks to the screensaver then it's two presses and you have to wait for the screen to clear so if you are impatient it turns into three. I am not complaining by any means. I love my car. However, it would be a nice convenience if I didn't have to look at my car giving me the same warning every time.

Not a huge disappointment. Now my attention is turned to the possibilities of additional inputs. hmmm...
