I-Four,
Radar Jammers are illegal in Florida, Laser Jammers are not! My K40 has saved me from tickets several times. If a LEO hits you with Laser, you are dead in the water without a Jammer. It's instant and you have no time to slow down!

I am a LEO and trust me both are ILLEGAL. You can take my advice or pay the ticket I have won every case in Hillsborough county when it comes to jammers.

I know several Criminal Defense Attorneys as well as some Troopers, BSO and PBSO and never heard they are illegal! I would love to see some documentation or statue regarding this. It might even convince me to get rid of mine!

Plllleeeeease.^

It's not your case to "win" you are simply an arm of the system, nothing more.

OP, most of these units aren't worth the money. There are also other things that you can be ticketed for if the radar/lazer isn't working...such as careless driving.

I would keep the street/hwy speeds reasonable enough not to get a ticket and take it to the track on those days you want to put the hammer down.

Laser Jammers fall under the general heading of "illegal equipment" and when used to circumvent traffic speed enforcement further fall under the general heading of "interfering with the LEO's performance of official duties," regardless of any language contained within (or omitted from) your state's motor vehicle code.

In all 50 states your STATE highway patrol officers are experts at estimating a vehicle's speed within +/- 2 mph. While the LEO may not be able to obtain digital evidence with his/her laser speed gun, you run an extremely high risk of getting pulled over & written up for reckless operation.

Here in Texas "instant-on" KA-band multi-targeting radar and VASCAR (visual average speed computer and recorder) is far more common than laser. Laser is also very short range and almost useless on an unlit highway at night. Also because of its very limited range, if you're paying attention you can often see the "Laser cop" before you're in range unless you get tagged coming around a blind curve or over a hilltop.

VASCAR has become a more deadly form of daytime speed enforcement in town lately. Originally associated with airplane surveillance of stripes painted on a rural highway, new technologies have now put vascar into a device that looks exactly like a small set of binoculars except they're battery operated with a built-in rangefinder and digital stopwatch and video recorder. The cop can clock you at any angle with his/her only reference point being a couple of parked cars or lamp posts. Neither your radar nor laser detector will go off, but you'll still get a ticket.

My own 2¢ worth is that anything beyond 10-over isn't worth the risk.
