Input address while driving - 2015 Maps/SW Upgrade

When upgrading maps, can you still input the address while the car is in motion? Believe it or not, this is a big deal to me. Having to stop the car to pop in an address is a huge pain in the ass.
I have a 2010 and can currently input an address into the Navi while I'm driving... anyone with a 2010 upgrade to the newest maps/system software??? Can you still do this?

Need to know before I upgrade... probably won't do it if I cant.

My understanding is that only the maps update. There are no changes to the software.

I can't say for sure though as I have never updated my maps...just think I've seen that on AZ before.

from what I recall there is a "red disc" (I think, and it updates the maps and software at once). I've tried calling Acura and the people who do the maps for Acura and they're pretty damn useless. Have no idea what it is you're even asking.

That being said, which 4G years can you NOT input address while driving? 2009 and 2010 you can... what about 2011-2014?

I have a 2013 TL SH-AWD 6MT with the latest Purple DVD installed and can input new navigation points while driving, the voice commands seem a little flakey but manually inputting a destination works.

Correct. I just bought my 2013 used back on Dec 26 2014. Checked the nav version and noticed it had not been updated since 2013 so ordered the current purple disc, version 3.10.10.D0 and updated the system, lots of new roads around the Washington DC area are now showing up and the zoom feature now scrolls out to like something insane like 1000 miles....lol

The discs have been purple for several years now so the color is not an indication of year.

OK, Just to be clear: I have a 2012 TL with original navi disc and the system can be inputted while car is in actual motion (My wife's 2015 MDX cannot; only while stopped). Now -- and this is critical to me when deciding to upgrade the navi disc -- the new purple version 3.10.10.DO disc you have is the one "selected" for me by the Acura navi website, so...

Before I buy it, are you still able to input your navi system while the car is in motion?

I purchased a used 2012 TL advance a couple of months ago and they left the a disk in the glove compartment for "2015 Navigation." I'm pretty sure they updated mine before I bought the car, and I have always been able to enter commands manually while driving.

I can check this afternoon to confirm if they updated it or not.

Not sure if the 2015 MDX and TLX share the same system as the the 4G TL or not. I see no reason why an update to the maps should change the functionality of the navigation system, as it's just a software update and not a firmware update.

that does help, thank you. Although Acura stupidly tries to sell the 2014 maps disc...for the same price as 2015 (since 2015 was out of stock).

But there are some firmware upgrades too - I'm fairly sure on that same disc. I read somewhere the latest maps, and latest firmware versions which come on the disc, neither of which I had.

Despite recalling that my one submission to the folks that update the disc som years ago re. changes in my area's road layouts, they still got it somewhat wrong: I sent them a road update of a particular road extension that now connected two major roads so that drivers need no longer detour around a 4 mile bypass just to connect the two. They eventually showed the road connection accurately on the navi update but still had the same 4 mile detour when using the navi's direction finder and traveling on the same roads. Anyone not familiar with the area was still being funneled into the 4 mile detour.
