How to play music from iPhone 5 to iPod connection?
I use BT to stream Spotify on iPhone5 fine. How can I play it via the iPod connection? I use the USB to the charger, and I thought that would work (and one time it magically did). Do I have to buy a USB to headphone connector to play music via the iPod setting?

I have been playing with the exact same issue over the last couple of days. It does play spotify over the usb connection. it did not start working for me until I loaded some music locally on the ip5. then it has MOSTLY worked. When it doesnt, remove connector from the phone and plug it back in again (reset it) and music should start playing. Before having tracks directly on th iphone I would get "no song" displayed when using the ipod port.
This is assuming youhae 6.0.1 on your phone.

The triangle shows up on the phone, once its connected to bluetooth and you have selected bluetooth in the car. Then, you will see the triangle for you to select how where you want the audio to go. It will appear on the audio program you are using at the time.

I got everything working on the IPOD connector with an iphone 5 except if you have your music on the "cloud" using itunes match. Music that is stored locally does play.
Music from the cloud does play when using BT but the song and artist info does not show up. When I connect using the ipod, when playing music (not spotify or pandora, for example) the music controls on the iphone are disabled.

Anyways, so I accidentally figured out. If I launch Spotify and play a song, THEN plug in the USB it will play through the iPod connection.

On mine, every time I stop and/start the music, it says it's playing but there is no sound. I found I have to unplug and re-plug the phone into the USB port, click the agreement message on the screen, and then it works again until the next time I turn the car off or the radio off.
I ended up buying an old HD iPod from a neighbor for $10 and I am usign that in teh car instead with no problems. It also freed up my iPhone 5 connector so I don't have to drag it around with me.
If I need to listen to something on the phone, I just use Blue Tooth and it works very well.

The "triangle" is important and is sometimes called the "airplay" icon. When you select it lets you pick where you send your output to. Try this - double click the home key, then scroll to the left as much as you can. You should see it on the bottom of the display to the right of the volume control.
