How do I “Press 1” with HFL?
I’ve searched a few times and can’t find this topic anywhere, so I hope someone knows. How do I dial a touch tone number form my car? I often make calls from my car where I need to press “1” for a particular option, or enter an account number of some sort. Is there any way to do this? I’ve tried pressing the talk button thinking I could speak the number, but it says its disables when HFL is on.

On models with Tech package, you should be able to use the accurately named Interface Dial to select Dial from the on-screen menu and dial numbers during a call.
Actually, it'll be simpler to show you the instructions from the owner's manual rather than trying to explain it.

Thanks, but those options do not appear on my screen, nor does my manual have those pages. I have a 2009. Is that from a different year?
Unfortunately, the only option I have when HFL is on and the phone is activated is "Hang Up"

Those pages should be from either the 2011 or 2012 TL owner's manual.
My only experience with this has been checking my voicemail, where I still have to enter a PIN, and I can select the Dial option while I'm on the call.
Does it make a difference if you start the call from the phone or from the car's system? It might not activate the menu feature unless the call is placed in a specific way possibly.

I've always placed it from the cars system. I just checked and dial is there, but after I place the call it gets grayed out. I tried pressing the voice control button like the manual says for non-tech packages, and it says on the screen "Voice control not available during HFL."
It may be that those feature just doesn't work in the 2009 models, just like the pause feature for CDs doesn't work in 2009 models. I wonder if there is a way to put a newer unit in the 2009 model? Probably pretty expensive.

That's odd, what does your owner's manual say about it for your model year?
And I'm assuming you're just using your phone's actual keypad to dial numbers during calls instead?

There is a section in my manual on HFL for models without the navigation system. That section mentions pressing the voice control button and saying the numbers. But when I try it tells me I can't use voice control while HFL is activated. There is nothing mentioned on how to use HFL with the navigation system, and the navigation system manual simply states to see the vehicle owners manual. Its like they completely left that part out.
I have not used the phone keypad either when I am driving, I simply hang up if I have to press a button and make the call later when I am not in my car.
