fuses in 09 TL

Does anyone know what type of fuses are in the new TL? I was going to hardwire my 8500 and when I pulled the 15A fuse for the front acc. there were no blades on it. I was going to use a fuse tap or add a circuit but not sure now. I was in the box under the steering wheel. BTW, I just got the 09 TL Tech in Polished Metal/Ebony and love it. I used to be here when I had my 01 TL but sold it in early 03 and have not been here since. Came back to the TL and this forum but forgot my name and password so I had to start over. Glad to be back and very happy with the car so far. I love all the new technology and the overall look and feel of the car.

I hardwired my V1 using the power off of the rearview mirror. Pull down the overhead console (2 screws inside the drop down compartment) and you'll see the 3 wires going to the mirror. One of them is acc power and one is ground, use a test light to make sure.

found out that they are a new type of fuse that you cannot tap into. I pulled the console but then got scared and put it back. I ended up cutting and splicing in the wires from in back of the mirror. I pulled off the wire covers and protective sleeve and cut and spliced in the phone wires for the 8500. Taped it back up the same way it was and put all the wires back in the track and covered it. Tucked the gray phone wire into the headliner and over to the visor area and into the 8500. Looks totally clean and just the way the car was before. The 8500 is now on the right side of the driver visor and the wire goes back to the headliner and is tucked in. I found a wiring diagram so I knew which was hot and ground. There are 3 wires that go to the back of the mirror and the brown in the left spot is hot and the black in spot 2 is ground. The wire in 3 we do not need for this install. I just spliced it back with itself. I knew what the 2 wires I needed from the phone wire were from the last install so it worked nice. Will post pics when they let me. I am new so I need some more posts and time on the board. Thanks.

I just striped the hot wire on my ac cord and removed the fuse, stuck the wire up in the fuse hole and shoved the fuse back in. No problem

I used an ATM sized add a circut and it worked fine. Just make sure you buy additional ATM fuses to install into the add a fuse as the low profile one you remove wont fit.

ATM = mini fuse
Low profile mini fuse = stock acura one

good info. never heard of the low profile fuses. Does the ATM size add a circuit fit into the same place that the low profile fuse came out of? Do you then use a second fuse to wrap the wire from the radar?

Use a Stealthcord for your 8500. Mine mounted just to the right of the mirror with the 8" cord, works great.
