Can you drive with backup camera on, all the time?

I was wondering if you could cruise around town with the backup camera on, all the time?

Any help would be fantastically appreciated!

Why you'd want this is beyond my understanding. Nonetheless, there is no way officially to have the backup camera on all the time. HOWEVER, there is a way around it with a slight downside.

While in Drive, Access the Diagnostic Menu by holding Map/Cancel/Menu buttons (all three).
Then go to monitor Check ,then adjustment, then the Camera.

It will keep the camera ON while you drive with the downside being that since this is a marker alignment screen, you will see the yellow alignment lines with other stuff.

Now that there's sorta of a way to do this, why would you want to ?

I'm sorry but this has to be the most ridiculous response ever.

It's quite obvious bro, I want it on to see who's behind me, who might be passing me. To see if a cop is on my tail, etc.

The list goes on and on. Before we ask this kinda stuff, think a bit homie!

Why wouldn't you want a backup camera if you arent using the NAV? works as another rear view mirror. The options are seriously endless!

options end there.. not endless.. why you would need it on when driving is beyond me....

there is a reason why they made rear view mirrors.. you have 3 just in case you didn't know where they are..

Wait. I try to HELP you. Provide step by step instructions on HOW to do what you're trying. Yet you call my response ridiculous? Because I asked for reasoning?

I'm sorry but is your rear view mirror broken? It works EXTREMELY well to look behind you.

Cops don't drive little Hot Wheels that you need the camera. If one was tailing you, you'd know.

You have 3 mirrors to show you who's passing or who's around you. The camera is the WORST possible solution here for that because of it's obscured field of depth.

Someone tries to help you and you become a total D-bag.

All I'm saying is that your answer is a bit piss poor, I think you would agree.?

If you could check behind your TL with the flick of a button or even two? You wouldn't do it? Makes total sense to pretty much everyone alive, not even people on this board IMO.

Easy buddy, I'm here to make the newbies feel comfortable, you totally took me the wrong way. When you see someone straying away from what really should be discussed, you have to let them know..... makes sense?

For the same reason manufacturers have NAV systems programmed so that you can't play DVD/video on them when the car is in anything but "P"; it's a distraction & a lawsuit waiting to happen.

EasyRider, why are you making a 2nd thread about something you've already posted before?

Potmilkz is right on both accounts. You've already posted this question before and that's what rear view mirrors and side mirrors are for.

You probably owe n19Htmare an apology. He DID give you exact instructions for what you're requesting. His answer was not stupid.

BESIDES, HAVING WHAT YOU WANT WOULD REQUIRE YOU TO TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD AND LOOK DOWN, INTO THE CONSOLE-NOT A SMART THING TO DO.

Thread Closed. Please don't do this again....
