1) They will add sales tax. Doh!
2) For Database number (required to purchase) I entered the software number. (2.90 for my 2014 software version). It would not accept the database number of 10.C0

No offense intended but please don't start debating the value of the update in my thread. It could go on, and on, and on, and on. It's like debating "abortion" or "politics"; some people believe one way and some believing another. This thread was intended to inform, anyone that was already interested in purchasing the update, that it is one sale.

"I currently have Database 10.C0 and software 2.90 and every time I try to enter the database version it tells me that it's wrong. (It's not)."
Do ou know how long it takes to receive the DVD?

Anyone know the difference between the US listed update DVD and the Canadian version? Wouldn't both updates include the detailed maps for all states and provinces of both country? This is for an 09 TL.
Like can't we all just get along?

The following year, the website was changed to make it appear that the US and Canada discs were in fact different (in fact, I think Canada got 2 discs, while the US only got one). So it appeared there was a difference.
I see they've changed their website again, and the coverage listings are no longer available. This is perhaps to keep us from seeing that they are the same...I don't know. It is curious that although the US has had the 2015 disc available for some time now, the Canadian site still only has the 2014; one would think that if they were the same, they could be selling it to Canadians as well.
You can try calling the nav people, but I wouldn't expect them to be either knowledgeable or honest.

I challenged them (the "nav people") on this a couple of years back. At that time, they admitted (eventually) that the discs were the same, and even said I could purchase and get the US price/discount, so long as I was willing to ship to a US address. I was able to challenge them because they claimed that the US disc only had the first 50 or 100 miles into Canada, and yet the cities they listed were well north of that line. Also, I showed them that the city coverages listed were the same between the US/Canada discs.

I installed mine today. It says it takes about two hours but it ended up being two hours and 45 minutes. I will say it really drove me nuts to be burning all of that gas while it installed.

Quick question:
So I updated my '12 TL using the Purple disc yesterday.
We also have a '14 RDX which according to the website also uses the same disc. I tried to update it but it wouldn't take the activation code. I assume that the activation code is device specific so you can't install the update on more than one vehicle?

I'm on hold with "HERE" right now; they're telling me that the 2015 Red discs are not "out of stock" in the traditional sense (as in they sold too many of them), but rather they were pulled from stock about 3 months ago because of problems they were having with the Red discs. Something about problems with some of the information not downloading properly. In fact, he even suggested I don't get the 2014 update (which is the one available on the Canadian site), as there have been too many issues with the Red line. No target date on getting them back out for sale.

You don't have to install all at one time. I installed my last update over a two week period. I stopped and started the engine about 25 times. It just restarts where is left off and continues.

Although it was shipped FedEx it was delivered by USPS in my mailbox. I guess USPS delivers some parcels for FedEx. I think its a good idea.

Tried ordering online today the US disc for my CDN TL. Both the US order screen and CDN order screen would not accept my VIN. Called them up, said they were having a problem and could process the order over the phone. Asked them the difference between the two discs and she said it only covers the first 50 miles across the border. I told her that the discs costs me $110 more to purchase the cdn disc after shipping and taxes, is it really that different. She said yes, so I said ok then I won't give you any money for the update.
Would love to know definitively if anyone has installed the US disc into the CDN model.

Funny side note is the descriptions of coverage for both discs from both sites.
US Site
With map coverage that includes the 50 United States and Canada, your Acura will be equipped for travel both near and far.
CDN Site
With map coverage that includes Canada and the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii), your Acura will be equipped for travel both near and far.
Right cause i'll be taking my car from Toronto to Hawaii or Alaska anytime soon....... and why would they put that on CDN disc before the US disc? Last time I looked Hawaii and Alaska were part of the US not Canada. Seems a US consumer would need that coverage before a Canadian consumer.

Reorge..... would you be able to help your neighbours to the north out, by entering a few addresses up here and see what your map does?
I'm close to the border, and my current map has always pulled up US locations accidentally that are clearly more than the 50/100 miles that the HERE company seems to randomly use as an excuse.
This should tell me if the US disc is actually the same.
Address/City/Province

If I was closer to the US border, or had someone living on the other side that I could use as an addressee, I'd try the US disc and see how far north coverage extends. Version numbers are the same. It'd be worth a shot.
I used to use my brother's address to ship stuff that wouldn't come to Canada (spent too much time on Woot), but he left NY a few years back.
