'11 TL & The New iPhone 4S
'11 TL & The New iPhone 4S
I just got my new iPhone 4S today to replace my original Motorola Droid. My contract at Verizon was up for renewal. I sat everything up in my TL in short order and the phone and bluetooth are working fine. AcuraLink is still not working. It did not work with my Droid either. Anyway, I thought I would report my findings in case anyone was wondering if the 4S would work in the TL.
Yep, everything paired fine with my 4S too...I actually had to 'repair' because it was acting funny the first time (randomly disconnecting, steering controls not working with bt audio), but once I re-paired it works great
How is iPod integration
I'm curious if you have the USB iPod integration working with the iPhone 4S. I have a 2009 TL Navi, and it seems like it will play music, but no song titles or playlist titles come up. Also, I can't change songs, etc. The funny thing is that with iPhone 4, the phone popped up a message everything I pugged in the USB that it was incompatible, but it always worked. Now I have 4S, I get no message, and it doesn't work.
Any thoughts? I already tried the 'reset' the phone, etc.
Thanks,
Dave

My upgraded still paired fine. Both new 4S paired fine with the 3G TL and the 4G TL.
I haven't tried the ipod over USBZ function, but the ipod over BT with skip buttons, etc. works just fine on the 4G.

I'm actually having a strange problem now...I noticed all my phonebook entries were doubled on my TL, so I deleted the phonebook and tried to re-import. Now it fails everytime I try to import it...anyone else having issues importing phonebook?

Bluetooth works fine, but (like you) I would prefer to be able to use the iPod menu system on the Nav screen.
It's not just your Acura. It's a known bug that affects a wide range of users across a wide range of applications.
What happens is that iOS 5.0 will corrupt a contact (or several), and you can't tell which one it is because it looks okay to you when you see the contact on the iPhone.
But the corrupt contacts cause your Acura to take a very, very long time trying to read and re-read the contact list, which it will have to reject, finally, after spending a very long time trying to read it.
Lucky for me, I still have my iPhone 4 on hand, so I used it to update my iCloud contact list, then re-activated it temporarily in order to re-pair it and upload the contact list, and then I just deactivated it and got my iPhone 4S working again, with the updated contact list already on the TL.
I feel for you. It's very annoying.
But it's not your car. It's iOS 5.0, and there's an update on the way that should fix the contacts for *most* applications. We can only pray that Acura Handsfree link is one of the things it fixes!

Guys/George,
In the lower right hand corner of each post, the middle icon is a multi-quote button. This allows you to respond to multiple people in a single posting-similar to what I've done with George's 3 responses above.
Please give it a try!

EDIT at 7:28 AM: Got somebody to check. All scripts like that at all Internet Brands sites will be disabled on our SELinux machines.

Iphone issue with contacts, etc. My suggestion:
1. Turn off the phone with a hard reset. (push the top button and the front button together until it turns off - DO NOT slide the power off thing on the screen).
2. Go into your phone/nav menu. Delete all contacts. Delete all phones. Delete all users.
3. Turn the car off, and then back on. Let the nav and everything boot.
4. Turn the phone on, let the phone boot.
5. After you've given the iphone 3 minutes to boot up and connect, turn your bluetooth off, and then back on.
6. Use the nav and re-link the phone. Re-import your contacts.
I've seen these things get squirrely when they try to see new iphones as the old ones - best to start fresh.

Still having issues. I went into the bluetooth menu of my iPhone, went into HFL, unchecked "all contacts" and tried to do a phonebook import. It grabbed all the contacts in my iPhone "favorites" so I'm thinking it definitely has to be an iPhone/iOS issue and not the TL's ability to communicate with it.
For problems importing your contacts with an iPhone 4S or perhaps other IOS 5 device, see my post here:
