Would you do still buy it knowing what you know now?

the 4g is an amazing car. styling maybe a bit ahead of its time. ive grown to love the cars look with the right set of wheels. buttery smooth v6, handles very well for the size. interior is nice enough with a good sporty feel to it at a great price point. 4g gets too much shit, especially from 3g owners who don't know any better. I own 3g myself and I would gladly trade straight up for a 4g if I could.

If you could go back in time to when you purchased your 4G TL would you do still purchase it knowing what you know now?
I meant to add a poll, but I didn't get it done fast enough.
Anyway, here are the choices
A) Definetly! I love this car.
B) Probably not. I wish I would have gotten a different car (which car)
C) Absolutely Not! This car has been nothing but trouble

Yes, I definitely would do it again, and again, and again, .....
Other than having to constantly top-up the engine oil, the 4G AWD TL drives well, handles good, and is still an absolutely delight to drive.

I bought my car is may of this year. Its a 2012 awd advance, had about 20K miles on it.
The previous owner didn't do any warranty work on it so I've had some bad experiences so far. I've had to get the throttle something or other replaced, then the transmission filter, then the subwoofer cover. 2 balances and alignments. Both fuses boxes replaced.
So I've had some bad luck, hopefully just making up for the lack of effort of the previous (probably fat as hell owner based on how flat the drivers seat was).

The crystal black pearl is known for crows feet issues with the paint. I took it in on May 27, got it back on June 25th I believe. I noticed they didn't fix half the car, so two days later they took it back. The dealer got it back last Saturday and didn't approve of the repaint, so they sent it back out again. I was also told they fixed the two dents on my car which it didn't have going into the dealership and was documented. So I'm thinking maybe another week at least until I see my TL. It's ok though because I put 15k miles onto their three loaners I got.

I am really just trying to figure out which car i will end up wanting. TL, A4, or possibly the new Golf R (if it ever comes). All of them are around the same price and have AWD with a manual tranny.
Thank you for everyones feedback.

I'm not really into hatchbacks but the golf R seems to be an awesome little car performance wise. Seeing how the A4 is basically a Classier VW I don't know which way out if those two. I would pick the TL for overall reliability, but this will most likely be my first and last TL, then I'm off to Lexus most likely or Cadillac.

Absolutely I would buy my TL SHAWD again. Had it for 13 months and 13k miles. Completely trouble free. For the $38k that I paid, this car is an incredible value and combo of sport and practicality.
The 4G TL has tons of styling character and is a real driver's car.

B. Pushing more to probably not. After finding out the burning oil issue along with the transmission being flaky, I'm skeptical to Acura's quality now a days. I would have gone with a 335i like I originally were to if I had to do it again.
Other than those two issues, the car itself is very good. I lowered it on springs, put a lip kit and exhaust. Maybe rims next year but overall it's an amazing daily. horrible on gas but amazing daily. Nav system and audio player is also one of the best units I've ever used and is so easy to navigate now. I plan on keeping it for another 3 years and consider my options then depending on income.

Even though I just traded it in, I still would have bought it knowing what I know now.
The car was great and priced well new. The car I have now is something I really wanted before I bought the TL but wasn't willing to pay for it new.

Without a doubt.
A. There were nothing in this price range that had a sophisticated AWD system and the performance/features/reliability that the TL offers. It was and still is an exceptional value.
Only car that was close was G37x... but my brother has the G. It is on the small side and not as comfy.

Audi steps it up... either way these 2 are too small for my liking.
I'd go A6 more likely.

A - Would absolutely buy it again. I've loved it from day one and still do. I think I'm a bit obsessed with it in fact. When I'm at work, I'll go look out the window sometimes so I can see it there in the parking lot, just waiting for me. Sometimes after I've detailed it, I'll go out in the garage and walk around it just admiring it......lol. But yes, I would absolutely buy it again. In fact, I plan to buy another one. Looking a '13 TL Advance right now.

Yes!!! I just returned from a 4k mile road trip and the car not only performed flawlessly but was extremely comfortable. As my lease is up in 3 months I have also gone into "shopping" mode and in all those miles did not see ONE other car on the road that I would rather have for the price, value and looks (as polarizing as they are to some). I will take a close look at TLX when it comes out but at the moment it wouldn't hurt me to keep my 10/Tech.

Knowing what I know now I would have either looked for a manual or got another car. The automatic transmission with its slipping and gear hunting is my only complaint. But it screws up the driveablilty and thats what i need out of my car. I have had the software update and the TC changed. The transmission still slips and Acura is telling me this is normal. But my 08 MDX after the software update and TC replacement runs buttery smoth with 2x the miles. So my answer is B. NO

I would absolutely buy it again! I have no complaints and I love how this car drives (and looks).
The only issue I've had so far is the dreaded CBP crow's feet. However, as a result of that paint issue, I:
1. Put 1k miles on a loaner
2. Got a fresh paint job
3. Got a free underbody spoiler kit

Quality, reliability, and resale..when Cadillac Last I checked Caddy doesn't crack the top 10 in quality, even 20. When s the last time Caddy ranked in those areas? Straight line acceleration is cool, but it take more then that.
#39
You should read up on reliability reports and quality reports, that have been released in the last few months. Oddly enough, GM and their product lines rank 5th, that's above Honda/Acura. Ford/Lincoln ranked first and MB was second, and Toyota was 3rd, I gotta find the link and I can't recall who was 4th.

GM's recalls just in this calendar year total over 29 million cars worldwide. Ford has issued 13 or 14, forget how many, recalls just for the Escape.
Regardless those reports say, I'm staying far away from domestics for a while... which is unfortunate because I really dig the new Mustang.
