Philips D2S Xenon HeadLight Replacement, need help.

Anyway, I'm trying to replace my OEM low beam lights to the Philips D2S for my 2010 Acura TL

I bought them on Amazon, here is the link.
Amazon.com: Philips D2S Xenon HID Headlight Bulb, Pack of 1: Automotive Amazon.com: Philips D2S Xenon HID Headlight Bulb, Pack of 1: Automotive

I went to the Acura Dealer and they told me $150/ea. to be replaced, and it is only labor! I am trying to replace them myself, but I don't have any previous experience. I hope someone can please help me out, like giving some instructions. Thanks!

Just follow a few steps in this threat and you will be just fine. I upgraded to Osram D2S CBI 5500K without any problems.

how do you like 5500K so far? I like to stick with my oem color so I picked the Philips D2S, but I'm looking for something very bright. Any suggestions?

I think Osram D2S 66240 CBI cool blue intense are the best that money can buy period!!!! Indeed they are the "Rolls Royce" of D2S Lamps.

The guy from the dealership told me aftermarket bulbs doesn't last long enough as geniue bulbs. My car has 52000miles already. I changed my whole drivers side headlight assembly after someone backed up on me
One day suddenly realized my drivers side light starts to turn a little bit yellowish and the lights doesn't seem to be balanced while driving during night. its just such bs on what happened to my car. My light is arriving tomorrow, I shall get them installed by tomorrow night. I'll keep you posted.

You guys realize that the higher in color temp you go(more blue) the less light is actually output. Most if not all factory HID setups are 4200k or 4300k in color temp. The blue/purple hue you see is from the way the light is filtered through the projector glass.

Be careful when buying on ebay/amazon for Philips bulbs. A lot of them come cheap and end up being counterfeits.

Personally, I would go with Theretrofitsource.com's XB35's if budget is a concern or buy Philips bulbs from them directly.

The only real way to clean the projector would be to take your entire headlamp assembly apart (bake it) and clean it, but most people don't go through that trouble because it's rare that it gets "dirty" per se. Bad quality bulbs can burn hot and melt the chrome housing inside the projector causing less output as well.

I ordered the bulbs from Amazon prime membership, I don't think it will be cheap quality right?

Was it "Sold by Amazon.com" though? Also how much did you pay? If it's far below market, chances are they are counterfeit.

on the outside or the inside? It won't get dirty on the inside unless it's not sealed properly. The outside will, but you can clean. I'm not following why you are asking this.

I bought a used oem headlight after someone backed up into my car and ruined it. I found out the replacement headlight is kinda foggy after car wash. I'm sure it's not sealed correctly, then I found out the replacement side start to turn a yellowish, so I'm not sure if it's something wrong with my light bulb itself or the projector. I just wanna fix it so bad.

ah, I see. If you have moisture in the headlight, the exterior is not sealed properly. Or is the moisture just in the projector portion of the the light?

Did you buy the oem Stanley head light assembly or the after market one? Heard that the after market light assembly fail fairly quickly as they are not the same quality build as the oem Stanley head assembly. That is only my 5 cents. Pictures would be nice......

Alright, so I did follow the instruction on how to install the HIDs. It was pretty easy but I lost one of the clip which I had to order replacement from Amazon. Only thing that I wanna share is that do not get the Philips D2S light bulbs! It is very bright but it is very yellowish, it looked ugly as hell so I had to replace the old ones back. Can anyone of you guys recommend some bulbs that looks cool? I liked the new MDX lowbeam colors, what bulbs do they use? There is also a lot of new Toyota Corolla running around on the street, I think those colors are pretty awesome.

The cars that you see on the street particular the new MDX is using top of the line led housing assembly. The corolla is also using leds so you are out of luck. Just get D2S that are at least 5500K or 6000K in color. I would only go with the two bulbs like I said before Osram 66240 D2S CBI 5500K or Philips 85122 WX Ultinon 6000K. They both cost the same $185usd per set (two). If you are on thigh budget then look into D2S Morimoto XB HID with 5K or 6K range. Good Luck

Jerry, thanks for teaching me. Are these the ones you are talking about? Can you tell me which would be the best pick in your opinion? By the way, I did found a little dirt outside the projector, I guess the used headlight assembly was not sealed well. But I dont wanna spent another 500-600 to get another one.

The first choice and then the second choice would be my first pick.
I never bought the bulbs from amazon as 80-90% of the bulbs sold on amazon and ebay are counterfeit means Chinese knockoffs. Most people don't even realize that they got knockoffs. If you are willing to spend 179usd on osram from amazon why don't you wait a bit for sale at the retrofitsource.com and get the 100% made in Germany bulbs for about $140usd. They stand behind their product 100%. Does this make any sense or what? Good Luck...........

Alright, so I did install the CBI blubs. They are pretty bright I have to say. But I did a really stupid thing during the installation. Which I dropped one of the new CBI in the Headlight Assembly itself, I tried to use magnet to get them out but now matter how hard I try I just couldnt. I am going to NYC next week to let me friend take my bumper off and open the headlight to take the CBIs out. I guess I'll get those lights smoked since it is already opened, and get those headlight cleaned.

I purchased these and self installed.

And why is the wheel well idea not more known? It is insane how much Acura or others want to remove bumper and lights. I self installed, after research, and the wheel well was not too hard, especially considering how much I saved!
