Official RonJon Grille Thread

Since we're seeing so many new threads popping up with the installation... I figured to make one thread, so you can see all the variations & color combos possible.

Here is my car

I like the OEM grille, better then the RJ grille with the Acura emblem. The 'V' shape with the emblem reminds me too much of older Acura's and newer Subarus.

But god damn I think i like the RJ grille without the emblem better then the OEM.

The RJ grill (in any version) looks way better than the stock grill Period!

If you take a poll right now from everybody in the 2G, 3G, and 4G groups, I would bet over 95% of people would favor the RJ grill (with or without the logo) over the stock grill. The silver beak is what's turning people off from the 4G. Now that the RJ grill is here, look at all the posts from 2G and 3G guys lately who are now seriously considering the car. This is not surprising.

Looks great with or without the A emblem. I honestly wouldn't be able to decide between the two.

There are still some aspects of the 4G's styling that bug me but the RJ grille has made a bigger improvement than I thought. Before, I honestly could not bring myself to like the car despite everything it brought to the table... now, its never say never!

noun
a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge

Why is it every time I voice my opinion you find the need to respond to it? I don't need a poll to tell me what I think and it definitely wouldn't sway my opinion either. Besides 2G, 3G, and 4G forums represents less then 1% of those who purchased the 4G, significantly less then 1% of people who purchased cars in the last year, and an insignificant percentage of the population.

So true. It's the key reason why it is such a total complete waste of time talking about what styling cues are good or bad for Acura to follow. The sampling is to small and also WAY WAY too distorted. By the nature of how forums like this are structured, the status quo will overwhelmingly be supported.

People will defend their own buying decisions. it's wraped up in ego. PetesTL of course things his new grill is the greatest thing since sliced bread. You, think the OEM is better. 3G owners think the whole car looks like crap, etc.

What do I think of the OEM or RJ grill? Doesn't matter what I think. No one really cares anyway. Most of us just want to hear ourselves talk and I already accomplished that in the last paragraph

My opinion?

The RJ grille, even with the slight fitment issues has made me a believer, whereas before I was screaming blasphemy.

i think i am feeling the version that does not have the acura symbol the most. not by much though. both versions are sweet.

even the stock grille has grown on me. amazing how that can happen.

Well ... it's obvious nobody else will say it, so I take the flames ...

Would really like to see one where the paint matches the rest of the car. This, plus the necessary adjustments Rondog mentioned might be necessary in one of the other posts concerning some fitment issues, are enough to keep me from obtaining one for the time being. May be a minor issue to some, but not representative of the wheels I purchased for my old CL, plus (I assume) other kits that he created for the CL.

Probably a 200 level course. Regardless, good luck with the new offering. If my daughters TL wasn't leased I'd suggest it to her.

RJ any way to offer a straighter bar in the middle. I think my problem with the "V" shape and the Acura emblem is the similarity to Subaru.

In fact, you could corner the TL Grille market if you offered several insert options, for example:

RJ Standard

RJ Straight

RJ Beak

excuse the quick photoshops

I could say the same thing about you. As soon as I posted pics of my grill, you couldn't wait to slam it. Every time I post my opinion about something, you go out of your way to say it's wrong. I find it kind of humorus that 2 people with such differences in opinion could wind up with the same car model.

Anyways, now piss off!

Yup, almost identical. I think the TSX grille would the perfect answer for me.

Real mature.

If I recall I said it looked better then your last set up. I must be jealous of all the looks you're getting because of the new grill lol.

My opinion?
Ron's grille encourages me to buy a 4g, can it be improved? most likely, but it already makes wonders, so it can only get better.

it's hard to please every body

I was iffy on pickin up the TL because of the stock grille...then I came across a pic of the RJ. That made the decision easy!

Question: Are you going to keep your grill as is or are you going to correct your fitment problems?

I'm glad to see the 4g Tl get so much love after so much bashing on other forums.
