New RJ Sport Design Wheel concept! (updated 3D, pg. 3)

Ok, so it's time again. New wheel time!

Acura has a bunch of new wheels for the new TL, but RonJon Sport Design will be pushing the envelope as well. Here's the scoop:

-19" x 8.5" with a 40mm offset. Flat face profile for BBK clearance and High relative offset.

-20" x 8.5" with a 40mm offset. Flat face profile for BBK clearance and High relative offset.

-20" x 8.5" with a 40mm offset. Concave face profile for dramatic appearance and drop center.

-pentagon centercap
-Low pressure cast One piece construction
-$345 each for 19" and $415 each for 20"
-TPMS compatibility
-64.1mm hubcentric centerbore , Acura and Honda specific.

Starting development this month for spring release in 2009. Right now its in concept phase and I'll be posting pics of the development along the way. What do you guys think??
I think the name will be Sentinel

yeah, i replaced it with the new TL. Seems like its not getting the warm welcome I was hoping for. Someone else said it looks like it might be ahead of it's time, but I actually designed this wheel in 2004 for another company that declined it. I'm going to wait until I get the CGI and see how it gets engineered.

Thing I like about it is that it used very unique features not used in the repetitious aftermarket wheel industry, this will either alienate customers or bring them in. What to do... hmmm

Is a nice looking wheel, but not your best!!!!

I think is too square looking for the TL. I do love the drop on the TL, very nice!!!!!

I saw the profiles first and said, Nice! I then saw it on the TL and said, "No way - I like not!" It seems a bit too too linear and busy for the 4G TL.

Hmm not sure. I just don't think the new 4G TL is going to live up to Acura's standards from the previous years. I am not sure what wheel is going to look good on the new TL. Overall, it's just not what I expected from Acura.

the more i look at it the more it grows on me.

i think your main probelm is the centercap looks like it's begging for the transformers emblem to be stamped on it.

overall, i think the design of this wheel looks amazing. would look great on the new Camaro, it looks pretty decent on the TL....

so i dunno, i've always been a fan of your designs though so my input is probably biased.

The wheel looks nice, but some how it gives the TL a top heavy look. Feels like the wheels are too thin or something.

I would have to agree. The wheel looks to "chunky" for the flowing lines of the TL.

Rondy, great job. They actually make the 2009 look good. Now, can you do anything for the nose?

I'm kinda shying away from body enhancements. maybe a grille, but the freight problem is a pain in the ass, no matter how many I sell.

As for the wheel, I'll revise it and see if it can get fixed, but what do you guys think of this wheel?

If you could somehow shrink the center area of the second design, in other words longer spokes, I think it would look a lot better.

I think there are too much mass in the center, making the wheel look smaller than it is.

just to add a little bit of insight of opinion. The first wheels looks ok, the second wheels look too factoy-ish.

Oh yeah!!!! Now we are talking. Sharp and smoth, a nice mix of curves and stright angles. I like this a lot. one piece = cheaper !!!!!

How about 5 spoke's instead of 7 ???? Can't wait to see these rims on your photoshop lowered TL......Sweet. You got one buyer, but waiting for 6-speed to buy.

Yeah, I'll play with the center size by making the openings reach into the center a little more. I didn't want to make it a five spoke because it will end up look kinda like the Servo and Inspyre which we already have. This seems to be a safer design, but we'll see.

I like the look of that second wheel. Will there be a version with a "lip"?

I like the second wheel

A highly polished machine finish with a small chrome lip.

And keep the concave, it makes a car look mean.

There won't be a lip, it'll be concave so the lip thing won't work with a relatively high offset. The finish will probably be Anthracite with a mirror polished face or Full liquid graphite.

2nd wheel looks great! Probably the best wheel design I've seen from RJ.
It's both classy and sporty at the same time, but not overkill. One piece would be better than 2(3)- I don't think the bolts of the two piece would really go with this. I'm not too sure if a lip would look nice either.

A while back RJ had a set of rims that were very close to this design: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...t=wheel+ronjon

I really liked it then, and this new design seems to improve on it. One thing I might suggest is instead of designing the face to be convex, if it was concave and arched inward instead of bulge outward... I would really like to see how that looks

EDIT: Ofcourse RJ happens to answer concave request as I was writing my reply! RJ, you're too good!

The wheels look nice in general, this car is just hard to make them look good..the car has such a bloated look too it, kind of similar to the RDX..

But if someone can design a decent kit and GRILLE for it, i could see it looking really good....it does need a sport kit for these wheels to work 100%.

i.e it's not the wheels, it's the car.

I.e what about black rims? (these in black)

The first wheel belongs on a Hummer H2.

Both wheel designs aren't unique enough IMO. I would suggest taking your existing inspyre design and change it a bit.

Ron,

I was actually going to ask you about the 7-spoke design you had previously created a concept for. I love the drawing for this. I cant imagine how nice the actual wheel would look. Go with this and put a lip on it if you can.

ill buy.
