FWIW, no SH-AWD in the first batch of cars

Don't know if everyone knows this, but there won't be any AWD models in the first month of production. Word is that "we'll be notified" when we can start ordering them.

Maybe when gas prices go down. Right now if I had the choice I'd just get a FWD over the AWD. I don't want 18 city 24 hwy gas mileage.

It's not that bad. Do you drive 40+ miles a day?

No word was given. The AWD cars showed up on the order sheet but a separate communication told us they were unavailable to order. After further questioning, they simply said. "we'll let you know when you can order them"

Colin, there is a chance that the interior of the chinese TL could differ from the american one?

I have no way of knowing this yet, but I would find is strange if it did. Maybe someone will post up pics of the current chinese TL and we can compare?

I doubt the FWD model will be much better. We're not talking about a small block V8 here, just a high feature V6. I would expect this engine to be fully compatible with the needs of the vast majority of the intended audience, and that includes those that have concerns over their vehicles using more gas as a consequence of a high performance oriented nature. However, if you're primary concern is fuel efficiency this is not the car for you. Honda offers plenty other alternatives.

There are no SH-AWD models in the first or second batch of cars. Our next (2nd) order is on 15th and there are NO SH-AWD models on this order. The following month will be the first order of SH cars and these are scheduled for November production with December arrival.

Thanks, as always, Colin.

I'm already planning a comparo of the TL SH-AWD and the RL. I think some looking at the TL SH-AWD could be cross-shopping a good, used RL. There a bunch of folks posting on the RL side with used 2005's and some 2006's and I expect the trend to accelerate.

Assuming the new TL uses the more aggressive SH tuning from the 2009 RL, I can only imagine the TL would hold up nicely in this comparison.

Hey Colin, things might be different in Hawaii, but I just got off the phone with my guy and he said they are ordering the SH-AWD today. He also told me it will go on sale October 24. We'll see...

I don't know about that. It would not be normal for them to split allocation by region. I can't seem to find the bulletin, but I looked at the allocation and although the SH cars are listed, none were allocated. This MOVE is for October production so I think that they are still waiting till November to start AWD cars.

UPDATE: The ordering has to be done for both models by 5PM tomorrow and the TL goes on sale September 24. The SH-AWD goes on sale October 29. This is A+ reliable.

Since people seem to have inside info, any word on MSRP for Base TL + Tech?

That info is not out yet. I fully expect the base model to come in around 35K (with dest) and the tech package to be 3500 more.

Well, the Internet guy at my dealership said to expect the AWD model by late October, but he could very well be trying to get me to put down an early deposit on one. This time frame jives with what Colin said. I want to see and drive one first.
