Body Panel Materials
Hey guys, I noticed a few rock chips on my hood and roof. I want to repair them with a touch-up kit but first I'm wondering if you guys know what kind of materials the body panels are made of. Are they aluminum or galvanized steel?
I'm just wondering if I need to put a rust arrester on first...

clean area, if there is rust, use a razor blade and pick out all the rust
mix a 50/50 water/rubbing alcohol into a spray bottle and wipe the area down.. make sure it is contaminant free.
put touch up paint, use small amounts first, then gradually move up.. allow 2 hour dry time inbetween.
use till you get desired level of paint..
wetsand and buff.

WEIGHT REDUCTION STRATEGIES
Despite its larger size and higher overall content level, the 2012 Acura TL has a curb weight that is just 85 pounds heavier than the last generation TL. Part of the reason for the minimal increase in weight is due to the widespread use of high-strength steel in key structural areas, lightweight (yet high-strength) hot-stamped steel for the B-pillars and doorsills, as well as the use of aluminum for the construction of the hood, front suspension subframe, rear suspension knuckles and steering hanger beam. A total of nearly 52 pounds is saved by the use of aluminum body components.

I looked it up, it is the same for all 4Gs. And yes even when opening the hood you can feel how light it is. I'm glad Acura decided to do this, it deffintely shows how much effort they put into this car

Old article on touch up paint kits:

From 2008 but I don't think that there's been much in the way of improvements since then.
As far as rust inhibitor goes, make sure it doesn't interfere with how the paint adheres (just a thought).
