Back-up Sensors

Has anybody gotten the optional back-up sensors? How do you like them? Are they worth getting?

I was thinking about them the earlier today, then I remembered my neighbor reversing his Ford truck, and that annoying "Beep" every two seconds at 6am in the morning everyday! The worst part is they keep in reverse even when they've reached the full back up distance. God, people are so inconsiderate!

Yes, those are pretty annoying for sure. But it's not the same as on the sedan.

I don't think people can hear it beep outside. It should be displaying on the navi screen with the reverse camera and when you are to close to an object, then it would beep inside the cabin.

Thats why he's in a Ford truck, and you are in an Acura

To the OP: Do you do alot of close, city type parking? What type of parking do you do mostly?

My old '04 TL use to have them.....they worked pretty well. But if you already have a back-up camera, I don't know you need sensors also. For me, it would be nice if Acura put some sensors in the front bumper....with the sloping hood, it hard sometimes to know exactly where it ends from the drivers seat.

I wouldn't say I do a lot of city, parallel type parking - which is partly why I'm thinking about them. In my CL it's so hard to tell where the "ass" is and how far you really are from the car behind you that it makes parallel parking difficult. Having never used a backup camera, I wasn't sure it would give the "depth perception" needed to tell how close you are to the car behind you.

Back-up camera's usually have some kind of "hash" marks on the display screen to tell you where the bumper is in relation to the object. Nowdays, you can buy aftermarket back-up camera's just about anywhere.....Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart.

I prefer to hear a warning signal which increases in speed or volume as I get close to another object. A camera without an audio sensor will show what's behind you but it won't give you a warning if you get too close. In my opinion, hearing an audio signal is much more reliable (and safer) than watching what's shown on a screen.

I believe that BMW has both front and rear sensors as an option on all their 2009 models.
