About to switch from 3G to 4G

Hey guys, I've been on the 3G side for a while now and I'm about to pull the trigger and get a used 4th Gen. Im only 20 so dont ask why I'm not gonna get the TLX instead. Sadly we hit a slow season at my job so commission flow isnt that steady .

Few questions that'll take me too long to research. So please bear with me.

From 09-13 are there any dramatic changes/updates?
Things to look for while on a test drive?
Common issues/problems the appear?
Packages!? Body kits!?

Thanks and appreciate the help!

there are two different looks.. 09-11 with the larger beak and the 12+ which has a more refined look

are you getting a sh-awd or a fwd?

main issue with the 4g is the roof rattle.. speaker blow.. all these things are minor and can be fixed by dealer.

im sure more people can chime in on this.. but with a fwd, there are very little mechanical issues.. but the sh-awd is a different story.

Nice car for a 20 year old. Keep up the hard work.

For packages: there's a base, tech package and advance.

There is a oem lip kit for both the 09-11 and 12-14. They are very different.

I dont mind FWD but I WOULD like to have an AWD to change things up a bit. Whats the common issues with the AWD?
and I might go for 09-11 just cuz it'll be cheaper through private sale

Mostly TC problems is all I can think of. I believe the 12s and up are 6 speed instead of 5. Can't go wrong either way. Call me old fashioned but I like the 09-11s better. At least I tell myself that to keep me from buying a new one. SH is definitely more fun to drive but a little harsh on the ride compared to FWD. Good luck on finding one and enjoy

Nice to see another young guy on here, not many under 25 from what i've seen

I believe most people have had their TCs fixed by now......

I have a 2013 SH-AWD Elite (Cdn version of Advance), couldn't be happier. Someone mentioned above, but investigate the lip kits for the 09-11 and 12+ as they are quite different (especially the rear). Personally I like the older kit much better, but in exchange I get a nicer beak and tail lights

Be sure to test drive both FWD and AWD, they definitely have different feels to them. Feeling my back wheels push me past the apex of my turns just makes my fucking day haha.

Best of luck! Welcome to the 4g side!

I went from a 3G type S to a SH-AWD 4G about 3yrs ago. Now, if you compare the type S to the SH-AWD then the SH-AWD is not has harsh of ride as the 3G type S was. I had an 09 and now have a 13 and I can tell you the 2012 and later are better than the 09 - 11. I did have that slight torque converter lag in the 09 model but not in the 2013. The 4G is a better quality car all around than the 3G. I did have to have the front door speakers replaced on the 09 model. Man, at 20yrs old I was driving a GEO Spectrum.

I'd get a 12/13 FWD for the 6 spd tranny.

I had a 06 as well. I like the 2013 better, but the 'premium' stereo is terrible in my eyes. I think my 06 was better. I never understood why Acura makes 0-10 the volume range and 10-30 do nothing but remove bass and add distortion.

My .02. Get your self AC seats if you can. After 1 use you will never go back.

There is a wealth of info on the acura website.

e.g. http://www.honda.com/newsandviews/ar...spx?id=5934-en

You really should study as much as you can before you buy.
And try to drive a few examples. Two cars that look the same and cost the same can drive significantly differently. Good luck.
