2012 TL 3.5 ... tips for smoother ride?

I know, I know ... use that good handling to dodge the road imperfections.

I am almost due for a set of tires. I am in Michigan, which has as bad of roads and winters as nearly anywhere. I prioritize some ride comfort over on the edge handling ...

I was thinking of moving to a 235/55/17 for my next tire, rather than the stock 245/50/17. It's about .38" narrower, and .5" taller tire. 1 mph speed difference on the readout.

Has anyone done this? I am 100% okay with giving up a little handle, for a little more sidewall height and comfort.

I Have the tires narrowed down to Michelin Primacy MXV4, or Continental PureContact's (which seem to be a decent all around tire, as well as slightly better than the Michelin's in the snow.)

What are the rest of you doing? Thx...

Bridgestone Ecopia 422. My 09 Pilot EXL FWD rode a bit on the rough side and these tires changed the ride to be more comfortable and quiet. I also had the Serenity tires and the 422's were better.

The PureContacts I mentioned are rated much higher, in nearly every category:

Thanks, though.

Still wondering if anyone has moved from the 245/50/17 to 235/55/17. I know this goes against the grain, since most people want to increase handling ... but I simply want a smoother ride to help deal with our roads that were destroyed by the recent armageddon known as winter.

The main issue is not about reduced handling performance, it is about safety.

The braking distance will be significantly lengthened and emergency avoidance maneuver will be less responsive, if skinnier tires are used.

I recently went with the Primacy MXM4s and am very happy.
