2014 Acura TL
Hey guys
Anyone know of anything new for the 2014 TL model? I have not been able to find anything online. I know that its apparently one more year for the new TLX to come out but usually every 2-3 years you can expect some minor to medium changes.
Any input?
Thanks

Whats the special edition including?
I read that its basically an in between trim for FWD base and FWD tech. It includes the Spoiler and keyless access you get in tech as well as some 18 inch rims. If its 1500 for that package its not bad. Its def an upgrade over base I think the spoiler is a game changer even though its so minor and and keyless acess is really becoming a standard thing nowadays to have.
Just a shame they became stagnant in any tech upgrades but I guess well see with the new TLX

With a roughly 60 day lead time I am surprised the 14s are not getting built soon, but seeing as it is just a MY change and nothing else they may wait. I still have a 10% hope that the TLX releases late this year or January as the spy shots for the 4G surfaced in June 2008 and that car was released in the fall. Maybe Acura will surprise us and show the 15 TLX soon and release it in January or maybe as a 14 TLX released in say October.

^^ That's why I don't understand why everybody is referring to them as 2014 models. They have been announced as 2013 models but as far as I can see, no production has started. As we head deeper into the year I'm beginning to think there may not be a 2014 at all.

If they don't do a 14 that would indicate a TLX sooner than later as no one is going to want to buy a 13 TL in January unless they are insanely discounted and even then there are those that will not buy a car that they don;t feel is the current model year. Can't see the TLX shipping in March and them not having at least a short run of 14s first.

As I understand it the special edition is a 2013 model, but there will also be a 2014 model as well. I believe the 2013 model year is over as far as ordering goes, the the next order that dealers put in is going to be for the 2014 TL model year (which will also probably include a special edition model). What I don't know is when the plant will start rolling the 2014 TL off the line and when these cars will be arriving at dealers.

heisnuts: I keep looking for the 13-14 changeover but haven't heard a peep. If you are correct, that opens the window for the '15 by quite a bit.
BTW, Keith, that wasn't a knock on you... I know you like to change for new things every 2 years. They can't make 'em fast enough for you!

Wow factor
After the Poor Reviews on styling for the RLX, lets hope Acura will WOW us with a real eye opener in 2015. I still have that WOW feeling on my 2010 TL, Silver SH-AWD tech,,, I don't like Tone Downed Cars...

I also doubt I would come back to the TLX now, if they style it down like the RLX and make it smaller like the 13 Accord I am not really interested. I initially thought the 4G was too big, but once I owned one I was liking it as the perfect size, and now my M37 is a like a cavern inside compared to the Accord and proposed TLX interiors.
No problem. I was hoping that 2 months ago, but gave up and ordered something 3 weeks ago.

They did it with the RL. There was no 2013 year RL and the RLX started in March. Of course, the TL is a different car in its role within the lineup. Anyway, I think you're letting your personal bias (for something new) to cloud your views on this. People will buy the old car for many reasons once the new one is out. These just won't be a lot of them! Hopefully production tapers early enough so dealers don't have dozens but its OK to have a few.

The pitiful slow selling RL was selling at a 2-digit units per month, and Acura should discontinue the sedan even for the 2012 model year too.
However, the TL is still selling at 2-3K units a month, which is a big deal to the sedan section of the Acura brand.
Acura can continue to roll out the 2013 TL unchanged as the 2014 model, just like the last 1/2 model year for every MMC releases.

The secondary question now becomes, with the 'official' announcement of a '14 TSX and TL, does this mean that the '15 TLX is coming later than 1st quarter 2014? It sure seem like this has been in the oven for a while (relative to the Accord release), I wonder if they're tweeking features/content?

I'm looking into trading my 2010 TSX for a future TL. Will the 2014 TL have the option for a manual transmission? I see that a lot of the new luxury sedans like the Lexus IS and Infiniti Q don't offer manual anymore...

The '14 will be the last year for the current car, so yes, MTs will be available on the AWD Tech Package. If you want one of these, you better order it quick because there is no guarantee that this will be made for the whole model run or how long this run will be. BTW, the MT is going to be at 6% of the AWD production for August production.

Not really as I already ordered something that is due early September. I will keep it under wraps until I can post pics when it arrives, as the last time I pre-announced a car in 2009 when I went to pick it up the dealer damaged it. Ironically that is what pushed me into my 09 AWD TL since that was my #2 choice then.

Best price from dealer
All the bugs are worked out
Plenty of aftermarket goodies (Intake & exhaust, suspension, grille & trim, etc.)

I agree that it is a great time to buy a car from its price point, bugs worked out etc....but for those that like the newest toy, waiting for the new release is just torture Its like how people line up for the latest IPAD when they have the previous generation....In that respect, I am not one of them....my itchiness is for new cars

That info is not available. They split FWD and AWD into two groups, each with the trims adding up to 100%
Well, I haven't been 'feeling' a Fall release for some time. IMO, the final nail was the spy photos showing the '15 TLX not '14.
Not that far off, 4G came out in the fall of 2008 so fall of 2013 is 5 years. A 1st quarter release is ~6 months late. IMO, we're still feeling a ripple effect (no pun intended) from the earthquake and tsunami. Doesn't it seem like everything, company wide, is just a little late 'post-tsunami'? Fit? Accord Hybrid, RLX Hybrid, smaller ED engines, etc.

If this is the case, that the 14TL will have the new earth dreams engine, along with a 6 MT, I am trading my ILX in for this car, and not waiting for the TLX.
Colin- Any word this may be true?

Given that the article talks about changes on the interior and exterior (which I don't see happening on a last MY run) and that it shows the picture of the RLX, I think the story is bogus. I think they are mixing up the 2014 TL for what will likely be the 2015 TLX.

That's to bad. Be nice to know 6% of what number to see how big the 6MT universe is. If it were 6% of the entire TL production run that would be about 2000 units. So it has to be something less than that dropping the FWD units out of the base count.
