Question 2012 TL - AC just stopped working

No previous symptoms, came home from a 45 minute highway trip home, hot day so I had the AC on (probably set to 68 since we had been out in the heat). Got home, no issues. About 5 minutes later, jumped in the car to run to store and AC didn't turn on. Didn't hear the clutch engage, no fans blowing inside. Climate control panel works fine (buttons work and displays settings that are selected). Turn on/off AC, no audible noise. I've checked a number of fuses (16 on the inside) and one or two fuses under the hood. Didn't think it was the relay since the blower isn't running either.

I did look at this post, and ran the diagnostics test, and download the 6257 page service manual, but didn't see how to read/interpret the results.

What would cause the whole system (excluding the controls) to completely stop working? If the blower resistor were bad, would it completely force the whole system to not work? Is it possible that coincidentally multiple things fail?

Only noticeable thing that jumped out (during my troubleshooting) was when I opened the cover to the fuses under the hood, the strong smell of electrical smell came out. Not sure if it was because it hadn't been opened up for years, or if something may have fried. I didn't notice anything visibly burned from a top-down view. Being in IT, I know what a fried electrical component smells like, and what I smelled was something similar.

Any advice would be great. I tried as much as I believe I could with the tools I have. May be forced to taking it to a mechanic (or heaven forbid to the dealer).

Thanks! And love the site!

Just as an FYI, it was a relay. Not confirmed which one, and going to try to do so, but a single relay caused both the blower and the clutch to not run/engage. Odd, but it's fixed! Thirteen bucks for the part, and a Franklin to know which part. LOL

Nice! Gotta love a cheap fix for as big a deal as a non-working AC system.
